Reusable loo paper!

Options
Dunno if anyone has mentioned this before... Not for the squeamish!

I've switched to using reusable wipes instead of loo paper. I cut up a load of dh's old t-shirts and use those instead of loo paper. They go in a nappy bucket once used (we have a baby in cotton nappies so they go in together) and I wash them at 60 with the nappies and a nappy wash to get rid of germs.

Cheap as chips and softer than loo paper! I can honestly say I prefer it! Dh and kids won't join in, unfortunately, otherwise we'd be saving even more.

  • I think it's a great idea, especially since you are using washable nappies anyway! Good on you!
If I had a pound for every...... oh sod it, if I just had a pound I'd be richer!
  • I saw the title and I had to take a sniff.

In South East Asia they have a low lying bowl about 3" high; you stand on the bowl with a foot on either side then squat. The message is washed away with a small bucket of water.

A shower hose is provided to wash the rest off. No paper, clean bum, job done.

My granddad used to always tell me to use both sides of the toilet paper, but that's kind of gross.

You'll be squatting over a hole in the garden next.

  • You can save a penny when spending a penny!

I am assuming Loveday that you are just using cloth for number 1s? I don't see where the problem with that is. Yes, number 2s is a different thing. Don't forget fellas, that us Ladies use toilet paper (or not as the case may be) for both jobs.

OK, seriously need to change the subject now....

  • I thought I had seen everything until I read this thread - but how about this for advancing the boundries of green moneysaving.

It is well documented that Methane gas is a much more potent greenhouse gas the CO2.

With this in mind, next time you pass wind be sure to light the gas with a match. This will turn the potent methane gas into the less harmful CO2 while at the same time providing a source of heat to warm the house.

    Now hows that for extream

No worries. You'll be able to use all those worthless £20 notes for the job soon.
