Asda self service tills

If you shop at Asda you'll know what i mean.

I like to use the self service tills. Very quick and easy, In & out of Asda in 2 mins flat to pick up a sandwich for lunch....usually

There seems to be an ever increasing number of people with full trolleys now using the self till which seems to take them 3 times longer, even if they had to queue at a normal till.

If it's not people with full trolleys, it's technophobes ( usually pensioners ) staring blankly at the self service screens with the same bemusement as if you'd just sat them at the controls of a 747.

Stuck at the back of a very long queue, full of people like me with one or two items getting annoyed because the proposed 'quick tills' had been clogged up with people who shouldn't be there.... I could see someone today attempting to scan a grapefruit as if it had a barcode on it.

This appears to be a growing trend and Asda really should be doing more to direct these people to the normal tills.

is there a rule at these SS tills, 10 items or something like that.
Just an observation, how would you look if someone sat you in front of the controls of a 747 - yeah - bemused!!!!

to be honest with you i thought the self service tills were aimed at people with 10 items or less
the technophobes may have been directed there by a member of staff so it may not be they're fault

It is soooo annoying if you just have a pint of milk and there is someone with a full trolley.

There is a rule but Asda do little to enforce it.

On the other, i think you missed the point entirely. Who wouldn't be bemused at the controls of a 747 other than pilots. ...... they're not in a 747, they're stood at a till.......oh i can't be bother to explain........ i ain't going to labour the point.............

    as well as

no alcohol (cos it takes ages for the women to take the security thing off)
no own bags - cos we cant cope with that and tell you there is something odd in the bagging area:confused: (despite us trying to get you to use your own bags)
no newspapers on a saturday cos they need permission............

not a technophobe at all but do hate the stoopid rules

Yeah, this really annoys me! The system should allow you to place your own bag in the bagging area, then 'zero off' the scale so you can start scanning your items.

No there isn't. There is a suggestion that the tills are for people with 15 items or less. If they actually staffed the main tills, than I might accept their suggestion, as they do not, then neither do I.
