  • Hey there, I've just read your complaint thread and think you may find my complaint to the Toby Carvery people most interesting. Copy & paste the following link and remove the spaces (I'm a 'new' user so can't attach links!):

    ianismoderatelyinteresting.word press. com/2009/11/30/for get-jeremy-kyle-get-yourself-down-to-a-toby-carvery/

If that doesn't work just Google the phrase 'Toby Carvery Jeremy Kyle' and my blog post will be the first result!!

It may sound a bit funny & amusing when you read it but there's absolutely NO exeggeration in the whole complaint. All of those events actually happened as I wrote them. Like you they have always been very good & the food is always excellent but one bad visit is all it takes to ruin a previously good reputation.

I've had two phone calls from the branch and a couple of emails from the head office so I know it's being taken seriously.

I'm in the process of dealing with it but I'll let you know how it turns out if you like?

    Cheers

If I was the OP I would forward a copy of the original letter to M&B head office in Fleet Street Birmingham and ask them to send it to the area manager asking why you haven't had a response. Tell them that you know Christmas and the build up is a busy time but it has been a number of months. Some pub managers will just ignore any complaint letters that come directly to them, then if you take it further they will just deny any knowledge of the original complaint. Best bet is to always send a copy to their head office and say that in the letter.

I've read the complaint as well, very articulate but 2 things you should have done

    1) Paid and written 'Paid under protest'
    2) Complained to the manager there and then
    Always ask ACAS
  • This is why you should always deal with it at the time
You could have asked for a reduction on your bill or some free drinks

What exactly were you expecting them to do ? offer a free meal ?
Running out of certain foods at a buffet has happened to us often at Toby depends on the time of day
You have left it too late now let it slide is my advice
"Very funny, Scotty. Now beam down my clothes."

All truth goes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Then, it is violently opposed. Finally, it is accepted as self-evident.
