  • i went with my mum yesterday to pick up my sister crib which we had paid off our deit cards over the weeks as the baby is due in three weeks to find this as happen i am deeply upset to know that some one could do such a cruel thing. As we can not replace the crib because they take 8-12 weeks to order and the baby is due in 3 weeks. is there anyway we can get refunded for the money we have paid? or any other way we go about this ?

If the debit card you used was a Visa Debit Card then you can initiate a chargeback by contacting your issuing bank. If it was a Maestro or Cirrus Debit Card then unfortunately you can't.

  • I ordered my sliver cross pram and car seat with this shop in aug 08 paid in cash £390. I went into the shop on friday 26th september and gave them £70 cheque which was going towards the set of draws i wanted and she told me to pick up the pram next week.so i went down on the 3rd oct only to find the shop shut so i went into the flower shop next door only to be told it had shut down.I have been to trading standards and they have had lots of complaints about this shop.So with only 3weeks to go until i have my baby i am without a pram and car seat altogether iam £400 out of pocket. There must be something that can be done to help us all to get our orders or money back

There are big risks when you pay with cash rach,at the time i presume they allowed you to pay bit by bit for some items, which is the attraction, but there is a downside.Other than contacting the manufacturers and seeing if they will honour the deal, and trading standards there is not a lot else
you can do.Obviously there is the local paper, but I am not sure that will acheive much thats constructive,

If you google "baby clothing store faces axe" there is an item in the st helens reporter,it says the company has filed for bancruptcy.-so they have not done a runner as such.

Rascals actually asked my wife for further deposits on the pram - luckily she insisted that she'd only pay the deposit and pay the balance in full.

While I have great sympathy for any business affected by these hard times, I'm disgusted that Rascals were still taking money off people right until the end, no doubt knowing full well they were in serious financial trouble.
  • my daughter paid rascals £383(cash) in aug 08 for her pram and was told it would be in store the first week in october, she is due to have her baby in 4/5 weeks, it is a babystyle pram, do u think baby style would have her pram on order from rascals or would it not have even been ordered,????????? what do u think trading standards could do?????????

All you can do is to contact babystyle and ask them. TS probably can do little at this stage.
  • hi I paid Rascals £50 deposit on 23/08 and £67 on 25/09 for my moses basket off my Barclays visa debit card. I have just spoke to my bank after finding out about Rascals on Granada reports 2nite!!!
My bank said they have to wait 30 days for the transactions to fully clear and then for me to callback to process a chargeback for the payments which will then take 10-14 days to process.
So check with your bank as if you have paid using a visa debit card then you will have the right to request a chargeback. However I would also try and see if they will do it with any other type of debit card also.
Good luck everyone and Rascal owners if you do read this I hope that you can sleep at night knowing that you have caused undue upset, stress and financial pressure to pregnant emotional mothers-to-be. My bank told me that you had actually claimed my funds after you had closed down!!! and telling SexyRach that she could pick her pram up that you knowingly hadn't even ordered and knew that on her return would find you closed is just downright wicked and deceitful!!! you have no morals or conscience whatsoever!! Ever heard of karma?? just wait and see....................
