I disagree with people not needing the whole amount - I'm not gonna go into my situation on here, but EMA is so helpful for us, as it means I don't have to rely on my mum. However, I did have to for the couple of months where I didn't get any EMA, and it was just extremely inconvenient, plus I felt bad for mooching off her.
I'm not thinking very articulately this afternoon so I'm gonna stop before I say something I shouldn't. But I think you're quite wrong in saying people don't need what they get. They wouldn't get it otherwise.

I am sorry, and I am not disputing that some people do need it. However, if you surveyed students, I think you would find a great deal of it goes on things not related to college.
Of course, there are expenses such as clothes, books, transport and food, and - if you are really unfortunate - rent payments to your parents.
What I was disputing, was think there are alot of people who simply don't need £1,200 (if eligible for the maximum amount) a year on college supplies.Remember, you are stuck with your debt if you can't budge it.0 -

Well, no, bet then EMA is not intended to be for course related costs. Sure it is for some but that was not the reason it was set up in the first place.0
