Hi,
I am a 20 year old male student. In the future I would like to a career that involves children. It might seem a little way off, but I was thinking in the summer holidays 2009, I’d like too do something that not only worth while but which would look good on my CV to future employers. I am looking for some kind of children’s summer camps or something similar where I could work in the summer holidays, the problem is I have no idea where too look, I have searched on the internet but nothing, Maybe I am looking to early? It’s just I thought it would be good to start looking early, than look later and find out I am too late!. I am aware that USA take students from the UK to work at summer camps, but if possible I’d like to stay in the UK.
Many thanks if anyone is able to help me with some places/ideas etc.

There are camps like PGL and Beumont(sp?), dunno how good they are. And you'd probably need some sort of work experience with kids before being able to work there. Local councils sometimes have playschemes and such like that you could work at.0

Any reason why stay in the UK?
Camp America is brilliant to have on CV.
Theres always Camp Beaumont, PGL Holidays - both for kids. Not sure about the application process or anything though.0 -
Any work you do which involves children, would require a disclaimer (police check form). This can sometimes take a while and you would probably have to pay for it yourself as you would need it before you started work.
Why not spread your wings a bit? My son has just had a brilliant summer working for Keycamp in Spain. He applied at the beginning of the year and he's the same age as you. They also have children couriers so it might be worth a look on their website.
You could try your local council who may have holiday play schemes, or your local leisure centre. Ours run different activities during all holidays.
Good luck anyway.0 -
Try this website: http://www.do-it.org.uk/wanttovolunteer
I've found some great volunteering opportunities related to working with children in my area. When setting up a profile include details of the type of skills you have and what type of volunteering you'd like to do e.g. summer holiday camp work.
Best of luck!0 -

The only problem melon, is that they could be pretty crap.
Although I haven't bothered looking at any of the links, the example I and someone else gave, is that everyones heard of them, which I think is the best option.
Although, damn you must be bored
and I do agree, google is quite useful, if only people would listen ! 0 -

but it's always best to look at options and not just go with the main one (especially since people i know who've gone away with them have given mixed reports - some loved it and others had a terrible time).
(and it did just take one search and all those links were on the first page - about 20 secs to get them all cut and pasted in!).:happyhear0 -
Thanks!
I did look on google, but I always thinks its worth asking people as they might have known one or two that does not appear on google
