I immediately went to Amazon to see this offer. It looks great but the one and only review suggests that you should buy elsewhere!0

After much debating, we finally went for the Technika DVDR2005 (as recommended on another thread last week) from Tesco at £79.
That DivX playback means a lot to me. But it sits under the tree until xmas day!

Sorry to continue on the tangential point about disk to disk copying but just to add a point on Rebel_UK's response re RAM to +-R... Usually the HDD recorders that support RAM disks also support -R, so it should be possible to go RAM > HDD and then HDD to -R in 2 steps without connecting to a PC.0

I bought an LG multi region dvid 13 months ago at a cost of £240.00. Lasted 1 month passed its guarantee and the lazer head packed up. LG were not interested they were selling crap at inflated price and Richer sounds couldnt care a dam. However have decided to buy the one off Amazon. If it it only last 12 months I will have had good value out of it.0

Take the lid off your faulty £240 one, and see if it has one of these inside it, http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?rb=13911817852&action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=96691
you can get one for £30ish and strip its case and swop. It's a screwdriver, swopping a couple of plug in leads, and unclipping the plasic front, type job. Easy Peasy.
You might be suprised how little there is in the big box.

I got my Liteon LVW-5006 from Amazon (or rather the wife did, as it was a Christmas present last year). I have used it more or less every day since I've had it (so much TV, so little time...) and it packed up the other day. I returned it to Liteon because of this, and it came back within 3 days. Fantastic service!0 -
Is there some very kind person out there who would record the repeat series of Bleak House for me on their DVD recorder? I'm happy to provide replacement DVD's or pay you the value of the DVD's, whichever you prefer. I am hoping to get a DVD recorder soon, but have to wait a little while due to getting a new laptop.
I have friends in Brazil and would love to be able to send them the Bleak House series on DVD. They don't have video player so can't send them tapes.
The repeats are being shown on BBC FOUR: Episode 1 to 5 will be repeated on Thursday 29th December 2005, 9.00-11.55pm.
Episode 6 to 15 will be repeated on Saturday 31st December 2005, 7.00pm-midnight.
If anyone would be so kind I'd love to hear from you, you can contact me at wend_101@yahoo.com.
Thanks in advance to any willing volunteer!0 -
I have the Inventive DVD recorder but have lost the remote. If anyone has a remote that they no longer need, I would really appreciate it. Will pay P+P needless to say.
