  • As to being an x staff of poundlands, i would recommend poundland only if u dnt like good customer services and would like to stand in big queues and would like to smell something like stinky rats and buy boxes missing their bits and pieces and buying chocolates melted or expired and buy pens which dries in 1 day and .........................to be contd

I find the pound shop by the bus station in piccadilly gardens, manchester great for hair dye..

they keep having loads of schwarzkopf live stuff in.. all at £1!! and it's in date and everything :D lovely purple hair :D
  • Re the extension cable, Poundland are actually quite a large chain with their own branded goods and fleet of articulated lorries.

I don't think they would sell defective electrical items, it might come back on them.

Anyway, wouldn't it be an offence for which the Trading Standards could prosecute them?

Woolworths probably pay the same price as Poundland and just charge more.

Reading this thread reminded me of something that happened when I first ventured into my local Poundland in its opening week.Wherever you looked there were signs that said"Everything a pound","Dont ask its all a pound" and "Yes everything is a pound" etc.I am checking out the goods and I hear a loud womans voice behind me calling out to her husband/boyfriend" Hey Wayne ow much doo yoo fink this is",and Wayne answered "ow the f**ck should I know"
    Brilliant.

Poundland are not as cheap as they would like people to think. Although I agree there are bargains to be had, I do believe that not everything is worth £1 and in some cases you can buy cheaper elsewhere.

    Batteries in £land - £1
Batteries in Wilkinsons 75p & on 3 for the price of 2 at the moment.

    Palmolive shampoo £land - £1
Palmolive shampoo in Wilkinsons 89p ::)

Yeah you can't rely on shopping in one cheap shop, you have to go round them all: Wilko's, Poundland, various other pound shops and Poundstretcher. Of course sometimes the Supermaket and various other high street chains are cheaper. ;D

My poundland usually has duracell batteries. I don't think Wilko's has those that cheap. Sometimes it's only the cheapo nasty batteries. I stopped buying Morning Fresh washing up liquid in poundland when Wilko's started selling it cheaper.

Oh yes and poundland has a huge selection of dvd's - some of them have two films per dvd.
  • I love poundshops, poundland etc and always get some good bargains......imagine my horror on a trip to York where they have NO poundshops! Apparently they don't fit in with the city (according to the locals i asked), what cheeky monkeys!!!!

Off to watch telly with my £1 aerial ;D

  • I can't stand going in Poundland in Birkenhead, it's too hectic!

I noticed the one in liverpool st.johns centre is very busy.

    always a good sign!

    Well I think its great.

Yes there is some rubbish there and some things that can be bought cheaper but there are some real finds in these shops.

I think if you are a clever shopper and know the prices in alternative store you cannot go wrong.
Its better to be late in this life than early in the next one.

    Slow down speed kills.
  • in a recent trip to poundland, hubby was at the checkout paying for 1 item and took a fancy to the christmas light/decorations displayed in the window, bearing in mind the 'everything is a pound' tagline imagine his embarassement when the assistant demanded £20 for them! He did stutter something about only £1 abandonded his purchase and scurried out of the shop!
    Smile it confuses people!
