I haven't had anything from RM for several months. I've given up on them.

Have you received the dreaded e-mail?

  • Hi all
I have been using my stamps to post out ebay items, and going to the Post Office to double check weight, 'top up' to correct postage, and to get a certificate of posting.
All was fine, until an item got lost in the post. I sent all paperwork, but royal mail are refusing to reimburse the cost of postage as I don't have postage receipt showing the amount of postage paid. Is this something that has always been clearly stated and I've missed?

They handled this really badly. I wrote in after they sent me a book of stamps saying that I wasn't happy. No response. I phoned in at beginning of May, they said they hadn't received my letter, and promised to look into it. No response. I phoned again at the beginning of this week, and the call operator said that a letter had been sent to me in May. She sent another copy of the letter, and it says if I send back the stamps they'll send a cheque for the sales value of the item - not the postage.

Is anyone aware of a complaints telephone number - not the awful customer service line? Not because of the £4 odd item and £3 odd postage, just because I'm really unhappy with how they dealt with it - if two letters (one from me, and one to me) have 'got lost' that is pretty poor, and not refunding the postage is IMO really bad.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi CBM
Sorry cant help re complaints procedure, but I remember when I had an ebay item go astray they refunded me what the seller had paid me (value of parcel), BUT they dont refund the cost of the postage paid.
Its a rip off, as ur still out of pocket as you have paid postage in 1st place.
Only came across that "WONDERFUL" rule, after complaining.

Sorry I couldnt be much more help xx

I got one of those yesterday, hoping to get a place on it as I've been on the waiting list for a year!

Lets hope we aren't both in the same area!

You can forward the complaint to the Postal Watch peepz who may help you out but as Mum2One has already written it probably is their policy not to refund postage on ebay items but I guess you may have a complaint in terms of the way they've handled things.
