0800 Reverse?

As per sorry if it's in the wrong place,

But, I have used reverse charges a few times un beknown to the person I was calling, luckily my mum ;) that the service costs £2.50!!! Regardless if it's just a few words spoken it's rediculous. Needless to say I won't be using that service again. It has no warnings as to how much it actually is just for you to ring another number or see terms and conditions or something, of which aren't displayed! Just a full size, almost, picture of that girl that used to be in neighbours!

You can permanently stop such calls to your number by sending an e-mail to customerservice@0800reverse.co.uk.

    I used the wording
    Call Barring

I choose not to receive 0800 Reverse services as defined in section 4 ‘Range Of Services’ and request that you block my number (01xxx XXXXXX) from receiving such calls.

    Please acknowledge receipt hereof.

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

If you are talking about the ads, I would change that  to a :j or a :T. Lovely!

I would never use the service though.

Some might appreciate the warning, so thanks!

We had one of those the other night. It was my sons friend messing about.

Yes, that's the problem when the caller only needs to dial a freephone number.

And it's also the reason why I 'opted out' as soon as I heard about the 'service'.

You don't get charged if you refuse the call though - see HERE.

Thanks for advice Heinz, i've just done the same using your template.
  • If you are quick there is time to leave a short message (instead of saying your name) then when you answer the call make sure you refuse it and it does not cost you anything.
Handy when you have got kids trying to get in touch with no credit left on their mobile
  • Is this the standard BT reverse charge service or a third party one?

Third-party operated, but you can still phone 100 for the normal BT operator :D
    That, is an excellent question...

0800Reverse were told off by the ASA for not making clear the cost of using their service.

    See here for more info.

Another way to avoid this charge is to move to Kingston Upon Hull or, if you don't fancy moving, get a non-BT phone line that won't accept these calls.
