    Hi All

Found this site tonight which is giving away which looks like a 2GB memory stick. Not bad for nothing. Just need to register.

    http://www.memory4teachers.co.uk/teachers_registration.asp

Would be great if they opened this up for pupils'!

    Hope this helps someone.
  • I have spoken to the guys who are distributing these sticks and because of the huge demand the sticks are being sent out in Jan 09. I for one am thankful that companies like them stand up and do something for us teachers.I will happily wait till Jan for mine, and am sure the rest of the teachers in my school will be happy to do the same.

Memory 4 Teachers is a major new ICT initiative taking place within the UK education sector.

The project has been developed to support teachers and educators in addressing their ever-increasing workloads by funding the provision of 750,000 USB memory sticks across the UK. The memory sticks have a capacity of 2 GB and include free educational resources for teachers to utilise, through a user-friendly embedded interface that appears on screen immediately as the memory stick is plugged in. These free resources cover all major subject areas and include lesson plans and ideas, worksheets and much more.
There are many other benefits too:

Teachers can save work to take home easily and efficiently.
    Free embedded Educational Resources
A calendar that teachers can utilise and update.
    Education Directory
    Links to select websites
Link to a supporting web channel with additional resources and downloads.
Ongoing savings for schools as use of consumables drops dramatically.
Reduced threat of theft as teachers no longer need to carry laptops.
Environmental benefits of reduction in waste.
Teachers can share resources easily with colleagues.
  • A free 2Gb memory stick for teachers and school support staff, go online and register, I believe they are sent out in March so worth registering

Memory 4 Teachers is a major new ICT initiative taking place within the UK education sector.

The project has been developed, in association with LEAs and Teacher Unions, to support teachers and educators in addressing their ever-increasing workloads by funding the provision of 750,000 USB memory sticks across the UK.

It is a fact of life that most teachers and academic staff have to complete important school work at home in the evenings. This includes lesson planning, student reports and marking academic work to name a few areas of responsibility. Teachers often need access to information at home that is not readily available. Memory 4 Teachers solves this problem for them in one easy step!

Apart from giving away ‘empty memory’ we are also utilising the memory sticks to provide teachers with FREE educational resources that are embedded on the USB drive for their easy reference. In addition the memory stick will also provide access to selected websites for educators and teachers.

Memory 4 Teachers is costing millions of pounds to implement and in order to subsidise this huge expenditure we are currently seeking partners to support the project. There are opportunities to appear on both the memory stick and the official web channel.

Just signed up for one of these - thanks for the info!

Just a head's up for anyone else... the form asks you for your school's address, as that's where it will be delivered to, and it comes with pre-installed information such as teaching resources which cannot be deleted from the stick, but it still leaves room for your own documents apparently.

I'm not strictly a teacher, just a librarian on a school's mobile library, but hopefully it'll get sent! I put my teaching subject as 'English' - hehe!

    Thanks again!

It does say school support staff too, I tried to change the title of the post but I couldn't. Enjoy your rest and don't let the little beggers grind you down lol
