I am a hoarder............................ .i admit it
I too built up over a long period so don't consider myself a panic buyer creating shortages
I find it odd people suggest saving the money rather than buying foodstuffs the cost of food has gone up way more % than any bank is going to give you interest % and lets also consider the banks themselves if the whole system collapses what would happen in the meantime i know its unlikely but i put faith in my ability to provide or my family than in the banks
There was a lady a few pages back who had savings in the icelandic bank who will understand ................ yes we have guarantees in place and yes we may get some/all our money back but when and who will feed us in the meantime ?
I think of my stockpile as my safety net and i use and rotate it we could live for 6 months on what we have but hope we never have too
Shopping at home from the cupboard is cheaper too ...............no distractions!!!

sorry for rambling*****

Ahh that's me! I'm very grateful for our full cupboards whilst our money is still stuck somewhere cold BUT full cupboards won't put a new tyre on my car, they won't pay for the gas boiler to be fixed and it won't pay my bus fare home from work.
I am a hoarder but I've only started to do it to a fairly great extent since we've paid off the debt and since we managed to put away a bit of money to pay for the "rainy days". With cold hard cash you can buy food if you need it and you can pay the gas bill etc.Piglet

I only have a tiny freezer, but what has put me off getting a big one and filling it with deals is power cuts and having to chuck loads of food away. I think there'll be more power cuts over the coming 18 months or so. I do have a good stock of tinned and dried goods though - just would hate to lose a load of food because of things outside of my control. On a mission.0

Does your household insurance policy cover content of freezer?0 -

Having got to the stage of having crammed full cupboards and freezers and never knowing exactly what we'd got, we recently had a clear-out of cupboards and freezers. We've now got a freezer inventory pinned up in the kitchen and now all the old stuff has been removed from the food cupboards we can see exactly what we've got. All the dry goods (rice/lentils/pasta/beans) are stored in big glass jars so we can see much stock we've got. I now look at the freezer inventory and in the food cupboard and am spoiled for choice when menu planning. But why is it that when we've got all this stuff and could probably produce twenty different meals from what we've got, I just fancy a bacon buttie for supper?:rotfl:0

Oh how true! But if you're like me, you wouldn't have the bacon in :rotfl:April 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500
