Virgin Media Free Router

Just got of the phone to them, and after arguing for about 30mins, they still refuse to send me a free routermad.gifmad.gifmad.gif

She was saying its only for new Broadband XL customers and not for Customers who are on the VIP package. I told her i'd just been on the VIP page and it lists the free router. she then said she was sorry and she's just seen that they do give free routers for vip customers, but i still cant have one.

I told her when i signed up i was given no incentive, and new customers are getting a better deal than i am, and we pay the same amount. i then said for a very impressive package, its not very impressive is it.

I almost just told the lass to switch it all off, but my kids would be gutted not having nick toons to watch.

Just buy a router? They're not that expensive these days.

Why pay out more money for one, when i should be entitled to a free one.

You're not entitled to one. They're just offering it to new customers, ergo you're not a new customer.

Offers come & go. Just because they offer something new 6 months down the line doesn't give you any right to demand that you're offered the same thing.

I'm not surprised they even listened to you, I'd have just told you where to go with that attitude.

Sorry but I agree with the op.

My money is as good as anyone else's so why should the new customers keep getting the best deals rather then the loyal ones who stay year after year?

Loyal ones get a reduction in cost for the service if they've been there more than a year. I've been with Virgin for 5 years and enjoy a reduced cost for the service, thats my loyalty there. Not over some router. Unless the OP is still in the original year's contract.

And did you have to ring up to get that or did they just give it to you?

Call their customer retention line (look at Saynoto0870.com for the number)

You need to be outside of your years contract before they can look at any 'deal'.

So that's not being loyal at all then.

Anyone can ring up any company after a year and threaten to leave unless they get a better deal.

If they are as loyal as you say they are then they would be ringing you not the other way round.

Its not like that at all actually.

Its not a limited offer for new customers to receive a free router, its permanent now. So why should i not be allowed to have one like any one else?

If virgin brought out a nice new range of standard set top boxes, and you were using an older one, would you not ring up to ask if you could have a new set top box ?
    ah bet you would

Like the bloke says above me, our money is as good as theirs.
I wouldn't ring up if they were getting their service £5 cheaper for 6/12months, its the fact they are getting something that all customers are going to receive from now on that's !!!!ed me off.

Right, come back into the real world & look at how business works.

Of course its loyal, why would any company listen to a customer whose still in their first years contract? Once thats up thats where the negotiations start as you're technically a free agent.

Up to you, if you want to save money, give them a call.
