cooked the weetabix cake this morning, substituting the egg with a small mashed banana and it worked fine ;D

i gave it 1 hour 15, but only bcos i had to take the kids to school so i just switched the oven off and left it in there to make sure it was done
nice and dense, little bit chewy. My youngest loved it, and there was no hint of the banana i used instead of an egg - sneaky way of using up dodgy bananas!
did i say i used cold tea instead of the milk too, can you tell im into substituting things!Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

Ssaver I am glad the recipe for weetabix cake worked and interested to learn that a banana worked in place of an egg as I am a bit allergic to eggs! So next time i make this I will use a banana and add some estra time! Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

Chloe - I don't think you realise what you've started with this thread! About 73,000 people that I know (okay so maybe not that many!) now make this every couple of days!
I made one tonight with a tsp of mixed spice, grated rind of an orange and juice of half an orange (I ate the other half!). It's so nice and smelt lovely when baking! Mmmm ;DMink0 -
tried it yesterday with the orange juice, it gives off a lovely aroma when cooking. is lovely, and kind of xmassy.0
