These are lovely and at great price. Where would I get the necklace bit? (jewellery making novice here ...)

There are loads of places on Ebay but I usually go to here as it's local to me:

Get a couple of spiral or box crimps and put them on some cord that you've cut to the right length ( thread the pendant on before you put them on) eg:

You could email them for help :)

Wow - some really inspiring ideas.

We're also doing prezzy limits this year for the first time ever, and I'm actually quite excited about it!
  • Play.com have got 2 for 1 on Disney DVD's at the minute. I got 2 the other day for £15 and one of the is a special edition one so I got a wee bit more for my £7.50! I think I've seen the offer on in Asda too so it's worth scouting round.

And remember - it's the thought that counts!!

Sainsburys have a 3 for 2 on selected Christmas gifts and there are loads under a tenner. Some of the stuff is lovely. Go here to view.
  • This is a good idea for anyone living near a factory outlet village which has a Marks & Spencer Store and a Thorntons.

    1) M&S have some lovely toiletries which are cheaper than regular store prices. They currently have Cocoa Butter Body Lotion and Hand Wash both 300ml which are £1 each and they also have 500ml Creme Bath & Bubble Bath also £1 each. I have bought a few and will then simply put 3 items together and wrap in cellophane with some ribbon to make a cheapy pressie look very expensive and lovely as a gift idea. I buy my roll of cellophane for approx £3.99 and it lasts ages and makes wrapping awkward shape pressies a bit easier as you simply gather it all together and tie with a bow and it makes a pressie look very special.

    2) Check out Thorntons as they always have good offers on choccies. I just bought a large box of choccies - 670g - for £6.99 instead of £15.00 and they always make a great gift and look expensive and again can be wrapped very nicely using the cellophane.

    Hope these tips help.

  • Boots is a great idea. I have done this myself lots of times.

Also NEXT sales have some great gift set bargains too. Handy to have a stash in your cupboard for Xmas & Birthdays.

We also often send a lottery ticket as a gift in a birthday card / christmas card. It is the thought that counts and it is good fun too.

I like stuff from here - it's cheap but looks expensive. Comes without the necklace bit but in a posh looking little box. :)

  • Other people in the family may also be feeling the pinch, and be pleased to have a limit, too - or may even be happy to stop exchanging gifts. We have stopped exchanging Christmas gifts with our siblings - we just do the children (with a limit, normally around £10) now, which works well for us and them.

I've done the same with 2 friends I used to buy for (we are Godparents to one another's children, so we still buy them something little, and the children make each other things such as a calendar or picture, or some biscuits - they really love doing this as they are still quite little).

With another group of friends (we met through our antenatal classes) we all agreed very early on not to buy individual presents for all the children, but on Christmas and birthdays we would operate a 'secret santa' principle - we all draw a child's name out of the hat and buy a present for that child, costing £10. Those of us with more than one child draw the same number of names as we have children. Each child then gets one present at our Christmas party or at their birthday, from all of us. As we now have 10 children between us so far, this is saving all of us quite a bit of money, as we would probably buy something for all of them otherwise, as we still meet each week and the children are very close - even five years on.

  • Trivial Pursuit is £10 at the moment in TK Maxx - a good present and will entertain everyone for a couple of hours on Christmas Day!

I'm also planning to get Atmosfear (the newest, Khufu the Mummy version) for our Halloween party and that's £10 in a few high street shops (I think one of them might be WH Smith...) I know it's a bit Halloween-y but I think it'd also make a good Christmas present for someone who likes spooky things :cheesy:
