Is there anywhere we can start an on-line petition? xx0/2013
:beer:0 -
Thanks for EVERYONE who has sent emails regarding this subject. Unfortunately about 10 days after I posted it I got a new job which has kept me horrendously busy most days and I've simply not had a chance to do anything at all..... and with the onslaught of Christmas, I shudder at how bad the tat will become!!!! If any kind soul out there wants to take up the cause I'd be more than happy to subscribe to any petitions, online or otherwise.0

Princes street tacky - well I never
you forgot to mention all the soot pumping empty buses clogging up the street & rest of the city and the cider drinking lovelys walking around because the ark has closed ...
Never mind when all the trams come in it will suddenly be cosmopolitan we will all be drinking frappicinos by the gallon  and talking with mild french accents in the sunshine in our designer gear.
OR NOT :eek:0 -

Wouldn't it have been nice if Lothian Buses had went for electric buses rather than a tram system0

Actually, I think it'd be great if they had re-introduced horse-drawn carriages and 20-seater charabancs (click here)....
If the charabancs were pulled by Clydesdales, this would serve the dual purpose of providing fun urban transport while saving the breed from extinction (the breed is classed as "vulnerable", as there are only approx. 700 registered brood mares & 100 registered stallions remaining in the UK! At their peak of popularity a century ago, there were nearly 200,000 Clydesdales in Scotland as farm, cart, log-pulling and even riding horses...i)Still waiting for Dyson to bring out a ride-on hoover...Memberships:

and think off all the free manure we could have too!! :money: don't forget the moneysaving.
Funny no-one mentioned Dundee for shopping - loads of good shops all within walking distance of cheap parking, with a little factory outlet area in walking distance of the high street too.:D No wonder I never go to Edinburgh or Glasgow for shopping.:beer:Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

I have not spoken to one Edinburgh resident who is in favour of this tram system with its exorbitant cost and endless disruption. I think that what the Council are doing to the centre of the city is tantamount to vandalism. It is going to provide yet another mode of transport for tourists to get into the city from the Airport although there are already a fleet of buses running empty at times. It will do nothing to ease the main artery in from the West of the City and will not benefit the majority of Edinburgh residents.
What really gets me going is that there seems to be no sense of urgency to get on with the work. You would think given the disruption that there would be gangs of workmen working flat out to get on with it. Fat chance! Drive through the centre of Edinburgh among all the roadworks anytime after about 3 o'clock and you will be lucky to spot anyone working. Why don't they do the bulk of the work during the night?
Roll on the local government elections!0 -
this tram system with its exorbitant cost and endless disruption.
Why don't they do the bulk of the work during the night?
Then it would cost even more and the level of workmanship could fall, if they can't properly see what they're doing.
Also no doubt the local residents would complain about the jackhammers and diggers going at 3am0 -
