Helloooooo everyone!:D I am proud to say that I have been sat here for hours reading and have finally caught up with the thread! As ever, I love you all for your great tips, helping each other out and daily stories of your life :happyhear

I too hope that any of my loved ones who ever need it will receive as amazing care and love as you give endlessly Sophiesmum xx I loved the cookie tree Purplevamp and would also love the 'how to' guide. Marru, I'd say the DVD player would be a great investment - of course try Freecycle first as BB suggested (I'll keep a lookout too) but if that fails they're only a tenner these days. Happy birthday to Slowlyfading for yesterday and to Shaz for the other day. Welcome to all new frugallers, you are very welcome and will soon wonder what you did before all the frugalising :DJumblebee, Mumzy and others, are you still out there lurking? Be lovely to hear from you. Glad the bathroom is getting sorted Redglass, you're right these things always do take longer than expected, brill that you're going with the flow! My thoughts are with anyone putting up their tree without loved ones this year, it must be incredibly hard and I hope talking about them/thinking of them while you do it can bring some comfort xx
I'm sure there was loads more to say (great to see you're still around Mr DT, great work on the deposit), oh and liking the window duvet idea too :TGrandma I think it was. Sorry to miss people and great ideas out, I am reading everything and thinking of you all though xx

I too am really excited about the new challenge starting, and finally have some answers as to how ours will work. It seems we can definitely go to India :j:j so now we just need OH to find a great placement. That means my budget will run in two halves - England for the first 7 months (poss. a little longer as need to wait for a new arrival ;)) and then the rest of the year and possibly early 2010 will be the Indian budget. I'm going to work really hard on the England budget so that India can be as wonderful as possible, and to give me a sound idea of back to work figures I need to aim for. I won't be able to be quite as frugal as over a whole year, things like growing veg won't be able to feature so highly, but I'll rise to the challenge as best I can :D
Talking of decluttering, I'm meant to be having a full day in my office today which I was really looking forward to (no really, I was - I'm actually ready to declutter) but I haven't slept all night as the antibiotics I'm on for my infected leg have given me such bad stomach cramps I was lying there at 4am this morning trying to work out how to get myself to the hospital  (OH is away). Thankfully they aren't quite so unbearable now and I am definitely NOT taking any more of the awful things. So back to the doctor to sort out the leg a different way, might have to get it drained instead
Anyhoo, I have just spotted I have a friend in need so have a great day everyone and enjoy the crisp winter day xx

OK, I've been reading about the scratchcards for ages now, I'm going start doing them! I don't have enough time to do too many things but they seem pretty easy. Thanks for the advice on how to do them on here

Happy belated birthday, slowlyfading :) I loved the cookie tree as well, purplevamp, and it would be great to see how you did it - I bet my family would love it if I made one over Christmas! :D Please look after yourself in the cold, Janey, I don't think I could cope with that level of cold! ((HUGS)) to Marru and cw re: the ex and the probate respectively; I hope you both manage to get things sorted out. How's the bathroom looking, redglass? :p

I just found out that something horrible happened to a friend of mine a few years ago which is still giving her nightmares. It's so upsetting as she's such a happy lovely person and I had no idea. Hopefully a group of us will be going round for a nice meal later to take her mind off things. I wish there were something I could do to help.

Otherwise things are good here - just starting to pack up my room and sort stuff out for going home on Tuesday. Have a nice Sunday everyone xxx

We are having a lovely family day today, with our roast pheasant breasts later, and Miracle on Thirty-whatever Street (that I've never seen) on at 6.20pm.

DH came in sheepishly this morning from his trip to get the Sunday paper. He said I would be cross with him but also happy. Hmmm. Well, he lent his colleague £3 last week, and got reimbursed. So he kept £2 for his paper and spent £1 on the lottery. Even though we have agreed not to spend on the lottery as 'if we are going to win, we'll win with our premium bonds'. (I am not yet at the stage of budgeting where I feel comfortable and not worried by potentially 'slippery slopes'). Anyway, he won £90. He was so delighted that I just looked stern, but he knows I am secretly very pleased.

Sorry SM, it's meant to be a secret so can't really talk about it yet but does affect my plans as I really don't want to be going anywhere til it's born. It's not mine, of course ;)
Back to the decorations, nothing to see here :rotfl:
