Its the Barnado's one. My nine year old saw it at 10 past eight this evening and said I don't like that add mum. so I am going to complain because it is aimed at adults. children should not be subjected to such stuff especially those who are being abused. There are no childline adds anymore I have noticed so a kid going through that may not know they can get help.0

Ok complaint registered and hopefully many more people will complain. this is what I wrote:
This advert is aimed at adults. my nine year old was watching tv when it came on and he said he did not like it and was visibly shaken.
I have also been upset when it has been on at later times and have resorted to turning the sound down and looking away till its off.
Children who are being abused will be disturbed by this especially as no help was offered IIE:childline number.
Adults who were abused also find it highly disturbing and it brings back unwanted memories. Please see that it is removed because its only aim is to generate money in the form of donations.0 -
Hello!
1274: I used to have spreadsheet that I used to record my spends but at the same time worked as a cash flow forecast. But then I changed it to in addition to record spends to also reconcile my accounts and when doing that the cash flow part of it doesn't work anymore. When I get a moment to finally sort out all my spreadsheets I need to come up with something that sorts out this problem, I will let you know if I can solve it.
Marru
Hi Marru I've graduated from a spreadsheet to Microsoft Office Accounts (free for ever and not a trial if anyone is self employed and needs an accounting package :j) because it's easier to calculate tax and stuff. But that only does the business finances. Would love to know if you find a solution to the cashflow problem, I've had to raid my savings and emergency fund for what should be perfectly forseeable expenses. Most of these go out by DD so I really should be able to plan for them. I've spent a lot of time googling budgets today. Apparently what I've been doing (recording my spends against budget) isn't a budget at all but a glorified spending diary. To be a budget, apparently, I have to actually not spend more than planned. NOW I know why I've gone bust on the challenge this year! Like you, I'll be working in tax years, so we can cheer each other along. I've given up counting until 1st Jan, what with my serial overspends in Sept and Oct and the new accounts package, I've completely lost track. So my fru years resolution for 2009 is to be diligent on inputting all financial data for personal and business and to allocate money at the beginning of each month and remove the remainder into my mortgage away from temptation. Watch this space for updates

Hi All,
Sorry that I haven't posted for awhile, but I have been unwell. I didn't make the £1,000 in four weeks, but I haven't spent much either!
As I can't sleep at night, I have been trawling the internet for money saving ideas. The FESTIVE FIVERS thread on MSE has given me some fantastic ideas for all of my Christmas pressies.
Someone gave me a book to read called 'How I lived on a pound a day for a year' which was very interesting. As I'm now on SSP I may well be FORCED to live on a £1 a day in 2009. Off to work out my buget (eeeek!!!!) for next year.
Great to hear about fellow frugalers frugalling - love to you all (especially those who are feeling a bit down).0 -
Hi TTDB, I couldn't find any cashback for Tak€abr€ak, but you can open your account with £10, play the free scratchcard for a couple of days and then withdraw the £10 leaving the scratchcard winnings. I think it's OK as long as you have a cash balance, even if it's just 10p. Guaranteed a win everyday and I could do with a few more sites like it.
Thanks Nyk, off to open an account now.
Busy day painting the skirting boards in the kitchen and bathroom in preparation for the new flooring being fitted. Hopefully have time later to put the Christmas tree up as well. Should be a NSD here unless anything unexpected pops up.
Have a good day everyone.

Signed up for Tak€abr€ak this morning, but can't find out how to get to the scratchcard..... Only way of logging in seems to be clicking on 'play now', but then it just offers me Bingo roomsCheryl0

It's really really foggy and still freezing today.
I have decided to let the reins off frugalism for today and leave the heating on. But I will use the radiators (that are working  ) to dry the washing and do as many jobs as I can around the house rather than stay in the kitchen. Oil is dropping in price and I reckon my tank will need filling again just after New Year so here's hoping the price goes down even more
I am putting the tree up today which will be sad without DH to do the hard graft and get nagged about decorations being off centre :rotfl: but I must make the effort.
I only need to get one more present. Still have a few to wrap but that will be on my "to do" list for today.
And I must must must get my head around my Tax Return.
There is very little to put on it but the motivation is sadly lacking
And I am going to start on the annual budget....have been saying this for a month but again..it's pure apathy on my part at times
Have a good day everyone.0
