Wig wrote:Oh and your insurer is the one who sold you the assistance policy, if they are using a crap company then the insurer should be told about it. However, these companies are always slow, they will send a letter wait 6 -8 weeks for a reply then send another letter wait again then send another letter, after so mony numbers of attempted contact the letters begin to get more threatening. You are expecting them to drop what they are doing and concentrate on your case, and somehow not allow the farmers a decent amount of time to respond, upto you but I think you are barking up the wrong tree.
I don't agree with the end of this. It is not acceptable that they should allow even 6-8 weeks for a reply to a letter, much less that they should allow a similar period of grace for the second letter. The only way to get them to do anything is to keep on at them and insist that they do not keep giving the other party such ridiculous lengths of time to respond. The only reason delays are caused by these companies is that customers are not putting enough pressure on them to get on with their work.
If they can't handle cases with due diligence, then they should be reported to the insurers.0 -
I've decided just to pay for all the repairs on my credit card. At least it will be sorted out ASAP now, and I can pay it off over the next year or so.Here I go again on my own....0

What? You surely mean the excess don't you? please tell me you're just going to pay the excess.0

Just paying the lot to get it sorted out.
I'm really struggling at the moment. I injured my back in the accident and December is a busy month. My day job involves lifting which I am stuggling with, and I'm working 15 nights in December as it's Christmas party season. I cannot afford to turn the work away, but it's leaving me in a lot of pain doing it. That's enough to cope with right now, and I've had enough of all the hassle from the assurance company. Here I go again on my own....0 -
Ok, you are now officially mad in my opinion.
You can get the repair done for a fraction of the cost (to you) by going through your insurers. (and it would have been done by now had you done so at the start). Because of this you are not mitigating your losses, therefore you cannot claim credit card charges/interest from the third party.
You may also find that if you use your insurers approved repairers you will qualify for a free courtesy car whilst your repairs are being done. Along these lines even if you do not qualify through your insurers (for a courtesy car) if you make a point of wanting/insisting on a courtesy car (to the repair shop) as part of the deal you may find you will get one anyway.

Becles! What are you doing? Call the insurer, and insist that you got injured during the accident!
Setting the financial aside: do not hurt your back more than necessary! Back injuries can be very serious and problematic in the future! Do not underestimate them!"Don't cry, Don't Raise your Eye

I agree - March Hare proportions. On minute you can't afford the excess, now you're going to pay the lot!

hi
sorry to hear about your accident, i would like to suggest that you contact your insurance company with her details and let your insurance company deal with it should'nt be your headache. I personally would have called the police at the incident as if the lady was'nt insured they would have found out there and then. Was there any witnesses? i would also like to suggest incase you are in a similiar situtation (hope not) is to get the person to write a note accepting fault with their signature if they do that you know they are geunine. Have you thought about personal injury claim which im sure you are intitled to.0 -

Go to "userCP" "edit options" and adjust your Show posts per page" settings. It's easier with 40 posts per pageWhy go through 4 pages of discussion
Also Becs,
If you go ahead with an unauthorised repair - Yourself. It could be disputed by the 3rd party (likely to be an unsuccessful dispute but a dispute/delay nonetheless) If you go with your insurers authorized repair there will be no such problem in future.0
