Interesting. Ordered goods early Dec. 2005, money taken from bank. No goods. No reply to two emails, no reply to phone call. Either a very long holiday, the whole family sick or, caput. Any information appreciated.

I ordered in November, still waiting for goods or a refund, i'm going to contact Trading Standards, I am glad I found this site!
  • Some more information.. It seems that our money was returned as a result of the local Trading Standards. Thank you to them. It is interesting to note that our bank has not even acknowledged our letter, sent well over a month ago.

Thanks for all this information, it has saved me from going completely mad. Even after reporting the customer service number to BT as always hanging up they could not say if this company was still trading. I have recieved a part order with all the money being taken from my account. Today I have contacted Trading Standards and if all disappointed customers do the same then we may put a stop to this bad practice. A big thank you to my husband for finding this forum.
  • I received part of my order from 23rd November and have £58 of goods outstanding, I have called and e-mailed numerous times. I am embarrased as the order was partly for colleagues...........this is now March. Help I am in Scotland and unable to visit the shop. Why don't they answer their phone. They took the full amount too

I too have ordered goods from the Work Basket on 13 February, they took the money from my account on 15 February, the order was actually incorrect, however, when I phoned them there is either no reply or I get the fax tone. I have emailed several times with no response. Trading Standards advised that I send a letter recorded delivery requesting goods or refund within a certain time. This letter is now sitting at their local post office as there was no one to sign for it.

My bank will not refund my monies as they say I entered into a contract with the work basket so it is not their problem and Trading Standards say they cannot help and that my only choice is to take them to court and even if I win there is no guarantee that I will get my money back!!

but imho these people are commiting some sort of fraud.

They are offering goods for sale, taking the money and yet are not providing the goods.

Would it worth contacting the local police for their take on it? (For what its worth the local police station telephone number is 01495 223673)

I contacted Trading Standards and today I spoke with them. They confirmed that in the past they have managed to arrange refunds for customers. The position as it stands now is they are going to arrange a meeting with the Work Basket in the next few weeks and will get back to me. If anyone would like information as I receive it I would be happy to oblige.
My outstanding order is only a matter of a few pounds and I am slightly embarrassed about making such a fuss and complaining. However, I do feel strongly that something illegal may be happening here and if there are hundreds of customers out there all owed a small amount together we are a nice ' little earner '! If this is the case then I would urge them all to complain to the Trading Standards Office.

Just to let you know I phoned the number for the local police as suggested - and they said it is nothing to do with them. As it is cyber theft, it should be my local police. My local police however, say that it should be the Welsh police. I have just spent the last half hour being passed from pillar to post as no one wants to take responsibility for this!

  • I have just had an email response from Trading Standards and they have told me the company is currently going bankrupt so if you want your money back you'll have to get listed as a creditor. Meanwhile the website is still up and they are still collecting money from unsuspecting shoppers.
