im working out my meal plan for next week and im thinking of doing a roast chicken and then the next day make a pie with the left overs
so thinking of perhaps doing a chicken pie
does anyone else make this and is it nice !
i bought a big chicken and stetched it to 4 dinners. chicken, leek and gravy good. i make chick and mushroom, but cheat on the filling and buy a mix:o . i also only put a 'lid' on mine with bought puff pastry. sound right lazy dont i:rotfl:
i also use the darker meat in the pie, this is all you would be having in a bought pie.. or worse.0 -
Well, this thread covers everything, but it is a bit long.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0

charleybabes - a chicken quiche is nice too:
Cut up 2 onions into rings, and cook them until soft in some butter or marge. Add sliced mushrooms and the chicken leftover pieces, cook for some more minutes all together. Transfer the mixture into a quiche or tart tin lined with pastry (no need to bake blind first). Whisk together 3 eggs, 150 ml milk and seasoning. Pour into the pastry case and bake for about 40 mins in a not-too-hot oven (190°C) until firm and golden brown."Remember that many of the things you have now you could once only dream of" - Epicurus0 -
Hi Everyone,
I am in a cooking mood today! I currently have a pea and ham soup simmering away in one slow cooker and whole chicken in my other one.
I've been reading about people making a chicken pie with the left over chicken. Could someone please tell me how to do this? The most simple recipe would be great. Please bear in mind I have never cooked with pastry before.
I have some mushrooms in the fridge that also need to be used up. Oh, I am trying to be as healthy food wise at the moment also.0 -

As per Cookie Monster's receipe, Campbells Soup is great for chicken pies, they do either chicken and mushroom or chicken and white wine, which both work well. I put peas and carrots in too. Depends what's in the cupboard, but OH loves tinned ham and that's lovely chucked in too!0

Never tried it with tinned ham, thanks Cazza. We normally add brocilli and carrots to ours as well.I hate migraines.0
