MBE v tigs78 chicken and leek pie challenge

tigs78 has challenged me to a duel. Choice of weapons: kitchen utensils.
On Thursday 28th we are each going to make a chicken and leek pie.
As usual, I'm starting the thread nice and early so we have time to shop and stuff.
Firstly, we will need a recipe we can both agree on. Then a shopping list, including utensils we (i.e. me) haven't got.
Then we will just need the usual support for questions like: "What's pastry?"
Hopefully, we will both be supporting this with photos, so you can see whose pie is best (i.e. mine)
Mmmmm, pie.

If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

In my defence I didn't know I had one either! The thread caught my eye as I knew the pie challenge was coming up, I thought the tin I had was a cake tin. I've never actually made a cake in it though but I once cooked a lovely joint of beef in it.
I think we should have to make the pastry from scratch too.0 -

 Are we trying to make it really hard work?
Do you have any idea the work involved in making puff pastry? Even the pros buy the stuff!
I will if you will but I think that's a bit OTT.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
I was just gonna use this ole thing I found knocking about...
Is it suitable? It's about 1½ inches deep. Should make a nice big pie.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
