I have just purchased a Garmin i3 in Staples of Southampton for £129.99! On my receipt it statesWrong shelf Tag
This has to be the best satnav bargin out there. Staples also offer a 14 day price match + 10% of the difference. So if I find it cheaper in the Jan sales I will be straight back for my discount!

Staples have put theirs back up, Wollies still at £144, I did hear last week that PC World are doing them instore (not online) at £139.99. I did think they would be £99.99 by now though0

Just looking at the Gamin in Staples but the sign says no Software included. What extra would I have to buy. If there are a lot of extras to buy I may be better going for the Tom Tom 1.
I had hoped it was out the box and minimal setup to get it working.0 -
It comes with full UK /Ireland mapping plus northern France by the looks of it already installed..It should also have a disc to download the USB drivers.Once these are installed you can download speed camera locations from the pocket gps world site as mentioned earlier and updates from Garmin.
It literally should plug into your cigarette lighter and start, once you have set your address into it.
I'm a bit miffed it doesnt have european mapping ,as that was the main reason I bought it,for a tour of Germany later this year.
There is a site that sells mapping on spare flashdrive cards, but these are an unbelievable £90 per country.Or you can buy european mapping on disc and download to blank cards, again very expensive.
If you want an easy to use bit of kit for navigating the UK though, this is well worth it.miken wrote:Just looking at the Gamin in Staples but the sign says no Software included. What extra would I have to buy. If there are a lot of extras to buy I may be better going for the Tom Tom 1.

Yup current instore price for the Garmin i3 at the DGS group of stores (Currys/Dixons/PcWorld) is £139.97
I take it the .97 pricing indicates a discontinued item. Beware that although they are all part of the same group sometimes prices vary between them on some products.
Cheers

For anyone who has bought one of these, are they any good?
edited: Ok read the previous messages....
Another one though - do they do European maps on the Garmin out of the box, or does it cost to download them?0 -
It comes with the MAJOR roads of Europe only.
You cannot route plan on them - it merely shows you where you are as far as I'm aware - for example if you ask to go to Paris it won't tell you how, but it will show you the major roads you are on if you drive there.0 -

Thanks for that. Can you buy or upgrade so that you can routeplan in France? This would be a major reason for buying one...
Thanks.0
