Do you have any evidence that this will happen? As far as I was aware the US is committed to the public use of GPS and is keen that more non-military applications are found for it.0 -
Well, as I needed one, I took the advice of a good friend and bought the Garmin i3. Not least that it was less to carry around and can fit (just about) in a pocket.
Although I'm new to sat nav, I have to say it's superb, but how much of that is just sat nav novelty, I'm not sure. I'm given to understand a fairly unique feature of the Garmin is it's instant "recalculating" if you take a wrong turn, and it's reluctance to request a U-turn.
Input with the scroll-wheel is a bit fiddly, but otherwise it's thoroughly great. The maps are detailed (even street names) and very clear, despite my initial reservations about the small screen. In fact, I'm now wondering if the smaller screen is something of a bonus, because as there's less to look at, it's quicker to take in.
The only problem with speed camera warnings only when exceeding the limit is not knowing to keep your speed down - ie in a 50 zone you might approach the camera at 51, but go through the trap at near to 58. Still, I shouldn't be speeding in the first place, I know. Welcome news tonight that the police are now featuring the interactive "slow down" type signs.
ABOUT CASES
I went into my local Asda store and bought a very durable camera cover, including space for spare batteries, for £7.96 ... what am I saying?!

I picked up 1 of these from Woolworths instore for 144.99 this morning0

Apparently it is only £129.99 in Staples (Only instore). I haven't checked it myself but read in another site and will try and get one tomorrow (offer ends tomorrow)

If Woolworths have run out, they sell them online, £144.99 plus £4.95 p&p < £150.0
