Didn't realise you were looking to move - or maybe i've just forgotten. Sorry to hear little one has a cold - its never-ending

We've made some progress on the house. FIL and me were over on saturday trying to get the plumbing for the showerroom done but unforunately I made 2 errors - cut the hole in the soil pipe very slightly off centre and of course on the low side mainly due to the way I had to hold the drill in the eaves and not being able to really see whether it was level or not. its not far off but the strap on boss and then the 50mm adapter leave the waste pipe quite a distance away from the soil pipe and hence its a more pronounced drop than it would otherwise be. the second problem was cutting the pipe from that slightly short due to FIL not having the pipe it connects onto in the correct position at the time of measurement - this isn't a huge problem but as the plumbers merchants were all closed by this time there was nothing I could do about it.

So instead we constructed the shower cubicle and got it in place and then fastened the basin to the wall. Minor bit of plumbing required to get the pipes connected and that should be finished. Hoping to get a couple of evenings at the house this week to progess things.

Got the manager of the kitchen place coming to the house tomorrow to inspect the work that was done as I'm very unhappy about it. Will see what she proposes.

Almost ready to buy carpets too - going to buy them from ebay from someone who sells bulk amounts of carpets including fitting and has been around for a while although not huge amount of feedback (just over 100 but all positive including some similar items as the one we will be going for). Cant see any disadvantage with this - anyone know of a reason not to do this?

LLC is having a rotten time at the moment with his insides - major poo related problems which isn't much fun for anyone. But apart from that he's great and walking lots now although curiously mostly in the evening when he's really tired :)

Is the feedback reasonably spaced out over days/weeks/months and from buyers with reasonable amounts of feedback themselves? (Just checking it's genuine and not from other accounts set up just to improve feedback scores for the seller - I was caught out once like that.)

thanks for that - yup all spread out but only one in last month or so but its a private listing so cant see what it was for. He seems knoweldgable enough about everything and hence think we'll give it a try. Will ask whether he's got a shop with landline etc just to be on the safe side.

I've got so many unfinished jobs around the house already though that it might just have to wait!
just wait until you want to get it on the market and then you'll realise all the little jobs you kinda know about but dont usually consider. I think we are going to have to just finish the shower room and paint the hall and then its a case of getting it on the market and see if anyone bites.
  • Hi Folks, thought you might be interested to see the house our builder has just finished renovating.

Sorry, don't know. If I can remember I'll ask when we next see him. We're still after the paperwork from building control and he'll be round with them I guess. Not sure when yet.

But my guess is the ceilings are white and the walls magnolia.

Thanks anyway. I was just curious as I have used Natural Calico, and yours look similar. They seem nice and neutral.

Ours are all plain white. (this was a house renovated by the builder who did our house, not our house)

We have a lot of trees at the back of the house, and the back rooms all take on a greenish tint in summer with the reflected light. Front of house faces approx SW, so we have a more yellowy tinge in front rooms (if the sun ever shines! :o ). Originally we went for the plain white just to seal off the plaster and get some paint up (cheapest option), with the idea we could change it later.

But we really love how light and bright it makes the house - had light issues as lost a side window with the extension but with light tubes, glass balustrades, and lots of white paint, you hardly notice the loss. :j

Will bear the natural calico in mind though if we want to mute the colour just a little in any room. Thanks for that. :)
