Bathroom update with a couple of before pictures! (nearly done!)

Looking good! :j You say it's "nearly done". What else needs doing? Looks finished to me.

Edit: just had another look at your photos - door still needs painting? Love your bath, looks really good. Is it comfy?

Thanks :-) Just the door, bathroom mirror, lights and extractor fan need finishing. All the holes are cut just need wired up :-)

The bath is very comfy it actually has quite a steep incline at the back that you can't see from the pics. It is made of a material called quaryl which holds the heat really well and isn't too cold to the touch. We did spend more than we meant to on the bath but it is very permenent!
  • Nice job dave! Looks really nice. Here's mine taking shape:

Looks mint. What type of speakers did you use I am thinking of putting some in. Also what are they hooked up to?

Looks very nice Typeractive. How is the Geo6? :)

Hey Andrew - thanks very much. I've not tried the shower as no boiler hooked up yet. However the enclosure seems really good!! :) So good, I have another one for the en-suite :)

Thanks Dave. I can't remember the exact model, but I'm pretty sure they're adastra speakers. To be honest I did a bit of research into this and ceiling speakers of good quality (let alone water proof also) cost a fortune. Whilst I love listening to music as much as I can, I couldn't afford (and nor would I want to spend so much on speakers...I've got speakers in quite a few rooms!) So I went for budget. I tested them on my stereo and they seemed fine for the purpose. I did replace the fixing with my own plasterboard fixings though - MUCH stronger and easier to install.

As for hooking up. The cables run down to the kitchen with an inline speaker control switch on route. I plan on having a Sonos box in the kitchen which will feed the kitchen speakers and the bathroom. So essentially I will hear the same music in both rooms (but that's cool with me). I'm yet to buy all the gear, just thrown the cables in place (long way off yet!!)

    Cheers!

  • Hi Folks,

Down to page 6, has everyone finished? ;)

I promised pics of our living room curtains a bit ago, finally got to take photo (some time ago but only just got round to uploading it) and you also have the bonus of viewing our new settee which we got in IKEA's special offer section reduced by £200. :money: OK, it has a few small scratches on it, but I figure it would have them within a week of being in our house anyway!

Will try take photos of other rooms too when we're back there (currently back home cat-sitting for DD2 and SiL).

Still have lots of sorting to do furniture wise etc (currently 4 flat packs waiting to be assembled) but house is at least habitable now, we even have a proper bed in the guest room and a day-bed that converts to a double in the new bedroom! We're gradually moving stuff between houses, but think we'll need to get local white van man to take bookcases. Plus there's stuff needs to go to London to DD1 which is going to be a bit complicated I think...

I am sooo jealous of all of you who have now liveable nice houses. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad you're reaping the benefits of all your hard work....but I'm still jealous. :D

I have moths, moth damaged carpets, sinking floors, a tiny rubbish kitchen and a smelly mouldy bathroom. I want to go home. :rotfl:

    Your homes are really lovely.

Oh aliasojo, I really feel for you! DD1 had probs with moths in the last house she shared. They bought pheromone moth traps and had them in every room. Apparently under furniture and rugs that aren't moved is a common place for moth infestation to start. Also they really love woolen items that have been worn and so aren't 100% clean. I think they found one of the house mates had left a bag of clothes in the under stairs cupboard that seemed to be the source of the infestation!

What's up with the sinking floors? That sounds quite worrying. Wooden or solid?

You will get there in the end! :)

    Hugs from sunny Liverpool,

    Maggie

    hi all

Glad to see everyone is making progress. We've not made a huge amount of progress personally.....but the builder has. Not sure what last update was but we've now got the drive, front path to gate, front steps, garage steps and turf laid too.

House looks great and although its cost a fair bit its not something I had the time or energy to do myself.

We've also had in someone to strip the remaining wood inside and she's done a good job although there are a couple of bits that need a little going over.

Thursday should see the kitchen re-fitting done, back door installed and hopefully the hand rail fitted to the stairs. Also hoping to have the carpets ordered - going to probably go with someone on ebay (but who have a physical store too so hopefully safe).

I was over at the house on saturday trying to get the showerroom started - need to redo all the plumbing and fix the shower base as it was fixed down with blobs of silicon on the feet - no screws at all. Ended up building a frame for it to sit on and also then screwing down the feet. Lots of fun drilling through the tiles to get to the chip board but got there in the end - destroyed my tile drill in the process although not entirely sure how.

Hoping to stay over a couple of nights later this week to get some serious progress made on the showerroom. Need to get boss connector for the soil pipe to connect up the new 50mm drain pipe as the one thats fitted is 40mm although cant decide the best way to do it. not convinced by a strap on boss but might not have a choice as I dont think I'd be able to insert a new double socket with a fixed boss as I cant move the soil pipe in any direction.

Need to visit a plumbers merchant as Screwfix dont stock much in the way of 50mm solvent weld bits. Might also get some advice too :)
