I need something nice for the centre of it but not sure what. Suggestions on a postcard to.......:D

How about a runner down the middle, maybe with a tassel on the end? And matching pads to go on the benches. They look super, but suspect they're a bit hard on the backside. ;)

A big bunch of daffs in the middle will be nice when they come down in price too.

Edit: there's some nice table runners here.

Wow that certainly is full use of space in a room :D

Nice table though - I love solid chunky wood. Is it oak (sorry haven't read back if you have already stated that)?

Lol, yes...it is large admittedly. :D Perhaps not the most 'fitting' decision I've ever made but I wanted that table no matter what. It's oak and very solid. This area was only ever meant for eating though so it's not as if it's encroaching on anything else and it's actually roomier than it appears on the pic.

The wall to the right in the picture is only a stud partition I built myself (the room used to be larger years ago, I needed a peaceful place for my disabled son to 'work' on his computer so the room was divided into two, a computer area and a dining area). I figured I would just move the partition again if the table really was too big.

The last table that was here was only 150 cm long by 90cm wide and there just wasn't enough room for all the family so I went large, as they say. :D

Looks like oak all round - table, flooring, skirtings, window frames. Very nice :D

Well its looks like oak - we went for one of the other Quickstep oaks in our kitchen to go with our oak doors, skirtings, windows, patio doors etc. Bit of oak overload but we love it :)

Anyone done a renovation and kept the existing doors and architrave?

We are renovating and have chosen to keep these and restore them as the doors are good quality hard wood.

Everything is a bit bashed up and painted with white gloss.

I am a bit worried that they will stand out too much when everything else is perfect but want to retain some charachter.

    Welcome to the thread! :)

Why not get them dipped and stripped? We're in the process of having a house renovated (we're too useless to do it ourselves, besides, EVERYTHING needed doing ;) ) and extended. Originally we were going to keep the original doors, but have decided not to bother (they are very plain and hollow too). If they were hard wood I would definitely have considered having them stripped to show off the wood.

Only door I've insisted on keeping is the front door, as it has original glass in that matches the windows either side.

you cant beat a large one.....erm so ive heard:)

well my car broke down again last night, water pump failure again, so here i go again, took it in to my mate to fix it again. So thought i'd work from home.

trying to wallpaper around the window in my daughters room, didnt want to do it today as i felt weekends felt like i had more time.... had a row and ended up ripping what was on the walls off as i ddnt like the finish..... fed up even more now, knew i should have left it to when i wanted to do it, felt rushed cos i needed to pick my car i knew the missus would disapear to pick the girls up from school so trying to rush...
Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!

Oh I am sooo familiar with that type of scenario. Step back and forget about it, tomorrow (or the weekend!) is another day.
