Well I'm off home to try and figure out how to progress my frozen pipe issue with minimal disruption/destruction. If I dont sort it I'm going to have more sleepless nights....0

@maggie - great pics as always. Question abuot the hall way - is that wooden straps across the concrete floor? None of the rest of the floors appear to have them so just wondering if you know why they are there? Just curious...
Hi LC, I finally remembered to ask OH what the wooden straps were for. They're to take the pipes to the thermaskirt in the hall and living room across the hall floor.
Your other question about the bathroom towel rail I haven't managed to find the paperwork yet, will get back to you in about 6 months time when I find it.0 -
@maggie - I'd forgotten about that. Thanks for asking
LLC has a full blown cold and was miserable last night - I was up until nearly 3am cuddling him in an upright position to allow him some sleep.
Started trying to cut round the cold pipe but had to abandon this to take over looking after LLC. Stuck hair dryer on the pipe for about 15 mins this morning while in the shower and it was running again. Mind you it was only -3 degrees when I left for work this morning - positively balmy0 -
Sat here with a leaking toilet now. AND the basin unit isn't exactly central, it's off to one side slightly. No chance of shifting it without some serious remedial pipework changes so will just try to ignore that part.
Plumber will be back this afternoon. Got a bad feeling this wont be fixed easy.
Sorry LLC is not so good. There's nothing worse than seeing a little one all blocked up, they get so miserable poor wee souls. Hope it passes asap.Herman - MP for all!0 -
Which part of the toilet is leaking? Hopefully not the whiffy bit.....
Was the old basin off centre too?
LLC was still trying to smile this morning when I leaving for work despite coughing and choking and obviuosly not sleeping much. Apparently he had a good feed after I left and then slept for nearly 3 hours solid so hopefully that will help.0 -
For any renovators still awake at 1.15am ( ) The Money Pit is on BBC2, after Midnight Mass from Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral. Definitely a film to put you off house renovation! :rotfl:
Merry Christmas everyone, and good luck with all those last minute little jobs!
Here's to a healthy and cold free first Christmas to LLC too.

Think it's where the water enters the actual pan. Plumber went off last night saying he needed a part but tbh I think he just hasn't fixed the existing parts properly. One seal in particular isn't even sited straight or evenly so I'm now back to sticking my nose in and I'm going to be getting on folks backs. (The head in the sand approach clearly does not work, lol). He's supposed to be back today so I'll either have a fixed toilet or an irate plumber later on.
The basin unit could have easily have been moved over a bit if he'd taken more care where he'd drilled the holes in the unit for the pipes to come up. I'm thinking I may buy some gloss plinth and make a shelf of sorts at either side of the basin and cover the front space either side with a fillet, maybe that would make the difference a little less noticeable. Will worry about that after Xmas though.
Hope you all have a lovely Christmas and a peaceful New Year (or a rowdy one if that's your thing, lol). I intend to re-introduce alcohol into my life at some point this evening and will be sat on the couch refusing to move or even to think about anything house related any more.;):D

Aliasojo, I might have only fitted one bog in my time and replumbed an old one but i never had any problem with leaks. I don't quite get how anyone calling themselves a plumber could leave you with a leak! The off-central basin would really bug me too. Grrr! If you want a job done properly do it yourself!
I'm getting absolutely nowhere as i've been afflicted with man flu (thanks to OH for sharing it!) so have barely moved from bed or sofa for a few days. Started with throat infection and then cough and streaming head cold plus a high temperature (was 38.4c last night). Not sure if it's flu or what but next year i'm not taking any chances and having a flu vaccine! So looks like the strongest thing i'll be drinking over christmas is Lemsip!
Happy Christmas to all! And remember it makes no difference what your house looks like for Christmas.. Jesus was born in a barn and had 3 Kings as guests!!0 -

:T Love that so much I've just printed it out in a large fancy font and stuck it on the hall wall so you see it when you come in the front door.
Sorry you're feeling rough btw, 'man' flu can be very tedious to put up with I believe, thoughts are with you Mrs a-b.:D Seriously though, get well soon. x
