Ooh mine creak like anything! Think they will need re-pinning. Mind you the whole house is basically made out of cardboard so what do I expect?!

I am having a major lack of inspiration on the colour front guys....! my colour schemes are currently cream and white!!

Our stairs currently aren't too bad at the moment. Still trying to choose a carpet- needs to be hard wearing, and blackish...

We are having: black and white themed hall, stairs and landing, lounge in chocolate (dark-carpet), cream and then one end has blue accents and the other end red accents, white bathrooms with blue mosiac splashbacks and slate grey floor, and then subtle colours combined with cream/white in bedrroms, and funky rugs. Kitchen is cream and oak.

  • I have a house and stairs too :) Our stairs are really creaky, I'm sure our adjoining neighbour can hear them. We tried to fix the creaks, but they came back again in a week! I think having some carpet will muffle the sound a bit :)

Snap. We tried to be bold with that wallpaper on the landing and that ended up being neutral colours!

We actually quite like whites and creams, and also we won't have any money to redecorate anytime, so we wanted to go neutral (plan on neutral carpet too) and then add statements with curtains/cushions etc.

That said, I love the bold colours some of you have gone for, but I also don't have the patience and creativity to find matching stuff to fit the scheme...like BBs pale blue kitchen. It's so well done.

Has anyone used vinyl wall stickers? eg: http://www.wallglamour.co.uk/pages/ideas

I'm tempted to give these ago when we have a baby for the nursery. It'll be easier to change as they grow up, rather than re-wallpapering/painting.
  • Wow this thread has got busy....there's a whole page of messages that I missed out!

TomsMom, I love that bath. I think the curved corner bit adds luxury. Am very jealous, but keep trying to remember that I'm still young and skint, so my time will come when I can do up a house precisely how I want.

We are using the wall transfer things- we have 4 huge poppies to go on the red end of our lounge wall, as if they are growing out of the radiator :D

We are the same. I actually like cream as a colour and dont care if the whole house is painted in it. Will probably deviate at some point but for now its going everywhere. Goes very well with our Douglas Fir woodwork which is a nice warm colour.

Going to try and finish painting and knock out the fireplace tonight but also need to pack for our week away and empty our large chest of drawers which are being replaced while we are away.

LOL, the above made me laugh as it sounds like you're planning to have a baby to accessorise the nursery....now that's dedicated DIY! :rotfl:

  • I wish i lived in a bungalow.

Our lass convinced me that having the a runner carpet up the middle and varnish either side on our stairs would be a great idea. I spent all last weekend sanding them down. And got 5 steps finished!!

if you have got the house for it then that would be lovely!
i'm not sure it would look right on our chipboard!

i feel your pain tthough. I spent 3 days stripping paper and paint off a box room, only to be told by the plasterer that there was no need to get the paint off (painted onto plaster) as if he re-skimmed it, it wouldn't matter!:mad: my poor arms!
