  • Thanks, I didn't think it would be TOO much louder than a regular loo (mind you, we have one cheap one that we bought and it's like a plane taking off) ... but worth thinking about putting a rubber mat or something UNDERNEATH the Saniflo unit to absorb noise. Fortunately no one will sleep under the new shower room ... it's my office, at last my very own room after 30 years of sharing ...

Update...Saniflo claim most of their loos operate at 55 decibels with the motor running for 10-20 seconds..many regular loos are louder...it all depends on volume and pipework. If your plumber is competent and you manage to educate potential users about the dos and don'ts (won't go there;) ) then a Saniflo should last for years.

  • You newbies are putting us to shame :o

I've not got much else to report except OH promised that we would do some painting tonight and I went to B&Q to buy some supplies.

Got beading for the door for bedroom 1, more paint (gone up to £12, knew I should have got more when it was £10), and some trim for our stairway, plus some other bits...total £50! How does it all add up! It's nuts. So apart from inhibitor that I'm still yet to buy and possibly one more piece of skirting, thats the budget for February gone!

Mum is coming down again on Saturday, I'm really hoping that we might get the bedroom finished and we can move back in. Really looking forward to having all bedrooms done (bar carpet).

If its any consolation I've done nothing since saturday. Going to try and find an hour tonight to finish off our small bedroom as it only needs the walls done.

Skirting boards are being delivered next week while we are away so we should hopefully get onto fitting them when we get back.

Hi hope you dont mind me jumping in here. We are just about to complete on the purchase of a 1930 ish bungalow. Its in a poor state sowill be doing lots and lots of work on it. Moving the bathroom, building an extention for a kitchen. We also have to have gas connected and the drains moved. The budget is going to be tight, so hoping to get good advise here, having read the posts. I dont think its had anything done to it since 1960.

Hi Spicey! Yes indeed I will be pestering you to start a blog! :D
If you've read the whole thread, firstly - congratulations! Secondly, you've probably realised that there are a few 1930's-ish bungalows on here, mine included, so hopefully between us all we can share some knowledge/tips/advice. Mine was in an awful state too! All good fun though.

Welcome, and make sure you give us some pics soon!!
