Wow KT, you seem to have doen so much already!! Do you work, or is this your full time job at the moment...?! When we first bought this place, I took every Friday off work for the first 3 months...now I'm back to only 2 days of DIY per week, I get so much less done!

Yes, it is my full time job at the moment, so I am a 'project manager'! I am also a student, but I am loving house renovation- I love drawing up plans and job sheets for trades, and I am looking forward to learning new skills over the next few months. I know I am lucky- most people can't do it how we are.:jMummy to 2 small 4 year old bundles of mischief!:j0 -
Can anyone give me their opinions....what is the smallest amout of space you would need for a toilet and corner sink? I am trying to squeeze a mini downstairs loo in our extension.
I was thinking 4ft long by 3ft wide....is that too tiny (as in for the whole room!)? Does anyone have a mini downstairs loo?

We have today purchased a Tavistock Micra toilet - just about the smallest we have found for our en-suite. Depth of toilet = 600mm, width = 370mm. See it here.. Full Micra suite here.
Teeny, tiny corner basin here 36mm x 36mm or cheaper not so snazzy one here.
You could google "cloakroom suite corner basin" and have a mooch to see what's within your budget and styles you like.0 -
We've been out today and ordered the bath we originally wanted (the Carron Status). Went to Diamond Bathrooms who, for some reason, even discounted their online price :j . We also bought the toilet for the en-suite from there and they price matched so got a reduction on that too :T . They're thoroughly nice blokes there too, and if you tell them you've seen it cheaper they don't want to be beaten so will match. Free delivery anywhere in UK. No - I don't work for them, just found them by googling and went to their showroom today. Highly recommend them.
We were looking at shower cubicles and basins/vanity units for the en-suite but will have to do a bit more searching to get the right price - the budget is being eaten away and we need to make savings somewhere.
Not sure what the builders have been up to today as we didn't get back until really late. Will check tomorrow and update blog, I'm dog tired as I was up so early.0 -
I have ordered the new appliances!!! We have a new range cooker and usa style fridge freezer coming next week, bargains they were too- £850 for both of them
:money:
Sorted out the colour schemes last night-I think I am nearly there.
Next week- plastering, tiling, laying laminate and painting for me I think!:jMummy to 2 small 4 year old bundles of mischief!:j0 -
wow KT that is a bargain for those 2 items! well done
TomsMom - Thanks for the info re: the sink and toilet, that would help a lot as we need to use as little space as possible. Just not sure if people could move around in such a small space! I will have a look at Diamond Bathrooms!

On the exciting topic of toilets, does anyone have any ideas about what the best macerating toilet might be -- I would rather avoid having this type of loo, but building constraints dictate that it is this or no loo at all ... I'm sure people have some graphic stories but looking for any advice on insulating the pumping mechanism, brands that might be quieter, etc? Any help appreciated ... it is so hard not to write a tasteless pun or two but I will avoid this as it's a family forum!0

Good morning: The OH uses Saniflo products if he has to fit a macerating loo:eek:

aww bad news for us
Our house is in an area where "permission development rights" have been removed so we need planning permission for our extension...worse still it will take 8 weeks to complete and we'll have to be really nice to our neighbours so they don't object!

My aunt and uncle had a Saniflo too. It was very quiet in the bathroom, but you could hear it in the bedroom below (not sure how much louder it was that a normal toilet flush though). I don't think they had too many probs with it, although I do remember them calling the Saniflo man out at least once (although that was prob cos one of their young kids used too much loo paper or something).
