We've got carpets in our hall and it looks fanastic.
Really pleased with it. There is a problem with one of the door bars being squint but we'll get them to sort that when they come back to do the final room.
The intended nailing on of the skirting boards didn't go to plan at all. MIL too little one for a walk. Cut a channel for the network/phone socket which took ages as I had to cut through the old wooden strap that the skirting boards are nailed to which eventually became so loose it had to come off and be screwed to the brick. at this point most of the remaining plaster between this and the floor came off and I just got to the point of being ready to start nailing on the first length of skirting when MIL returned back with hungry and grumpy little one so that was the end of that. He didn't settle at all so game over and I had to take back the nailgun this morning. Will get everything ready to go on and then get the nail gun again for a day and just get them on.
at least this gives me a little more time to sort out the electrics and network cabling0 -
Not going according to plan in this house either right now. OH said he'd sanded all the taped and filled areas in the cupboard, and so he had. Badly. So when I went to paint it this morning, I couldn't.
He's on late shift just now which means he doesn't get home till around 3am ish so I couldn't start sanding until he got up. By then I was a tad annoyed and kinda started doing things in a not so great mood. Most of the plasterboard in the cupboard is new apart from the back wall which was supposed to get sugar soaped down because it was orange with age etc. Of course I forgot and after sanding all the corners again, I started slapping the paint on.. No doubt it all peel off this wall shortly.

Sounds like it to me. We can all get a bit fed up with things particularly when its not going how you would like it to. Take a little break from it for a few days and do something nice instead and then get back to the DIY once you are ready to.0 -

Andy, congrats to you and Mrs Andy!
And congrats to littlerose on the nuptials - I'd like to see photos too. And I bet TomsMum will be along in a while demanding them too!
Suiside, glad you think the house looks great! :rotfl: Sounds like you had a fun holiday, nice to be able to go with family and dogs and have fun together.
Urm I'm losing track of where I was up to on the house front...
Monday we didn't go to the house, as it was wet and 'orrible and I could barely move after overdoing the gardening on Sunday. It was also the third anniversary of Mum's death, so was feeling a bit down too (still am actually).
Yesterday OH went over in the evening and took some photos. I was still very sore and aching from the gardening, staggering up and down the stairs like an old lady. Hmm, come to think of it I probably an old lady now! _pale_ They've started digging the trenches for the foundations of the extension, and all of the concrete from garage and morning room floors has gone now. Heaven only knows how many skips they've filled already, must be a fair few!

Looks as if there's a helluva lot of sandstone down there!

And here's a shot from the back garden.

OH has just popped round to the house now to try and see if he can get pics of today's work, but it's getting a bit dark now so not sure if there'll be a further update yet.
Tomorrow we meet with our builder to discuss shower trays.0 -
Thanks guys
Here's a little pic for you..0 -
What an absolutely lovely picture, definitely one for a frame I think.
You look beautiful. x
maggie...I can't even look at your pics without a sharp intake of breath. It will be better once you have walls.
Well I'm having the day off today and heading into the nearest town. I need to take back a light I bought for the bedroom as it's seriously poor quality. It was on a high display when I first saw it so couldn't really see the flaws close up. Will go for lunch and generally faff about. Anything's good as long as it doesn't involve a paintbrush, sorting the joiner out or sanding!
Have a good day!Herman - MP for all!0
