Nice one littlerose. When the carpets went down in our house it felt like a HOME! :)

Andrew, nope, not hte best time but glad I did it, luckily Pete the neighbours watering it in daytime so getting 3x good soakings a day. He's a legend and not on a water meter either so just use his tap :)

What a difference a bit of green makes, looks good suisidevw.

I'm sat here a bag of nerves waiting for the insurance loss adjuster to arrive about our kitchen ceiling collapse. I've been flicking through the policy booklet and it says something about letting them know about any work going on in the home other than routine maintenance and decoration.

I don't know if they'd class replacing plasterboard and door frames etc as 'maintenance'. Our place still hasn't got all it's doors up....got a bit of a sick feeling this isn't going to end up well. _pale_

John, yes i know shed security is the downside of this plan but loft isn't an option. Better off having my gear nicked than the wife's incessant nagging to uncover the floor of the spare room! Doors, windows are my first line of defence but not the only one. I've probably said to much already TBH. Is there any law against electrocution of burglars?? ;)

Sure itll turn out fine aliasojo...it's not like your trying it on with the old "i spilt a can of paint on the carpet" fraud! I think they mean more that if you've got scaffold up and windows and doors missing that security will be compromised?

All ended ok, adjuster was fine, got the go ahead now and also the ok to book somewhere to stay for a week whilst the work is going on. Panicking for nothing as usual. :)

Biggest problem will be trying to find somewhere local at short notice in holiday season. Been online half the day and still no joy.

Things not going so well here - they are making (slow) progress but have been getting promises which dont materialise once more. Why is it so hard to get someone who just does what they say - for the price they agree???

On the plus side - got big bedroom upstairs painted and most of the woodwork is done up there. We were waiting for about 3 weeks for one sheet of insulated plasterboard to be delivered to allow them to plaster the back room - in the end OH went to local Jewsons and bought it (got one of the guys to cut it down so it would fit it the car - think bump probably helped with that!)

We also got 2 coats of paint on most of the downstairs hall but there were some bits we couldn't do as one wasn't plastered and another wasn't dry - but they refitted the architraves anyway...........

Plasterboard for the kitchen turned up today - not enough to do it and not teh right stuff either. No sign of the replacement roofer (first one apparently fell off a roof and cant work at the moment). New water main connection is getting done on monday but nothign has been done inside yet - to be fair they didn't necessarily know about that date but then they should have been completely finished 2 weeks ago.

Love the new front garden looks heaps better, well done Susie.
Still no sitting room here! We have had the plumber in for the last couple of weeks, so we will soon have central heating and a boiler!
Carpet got delivered last night for the sitting room, so hoping to have a sitting room back soon, carpet fitter coming monday to fit the sitting room and the stairs. We have had to have temp plastic pipes for the bathroom as the old ones wouldnt withstand the pressure of the boiler.
Next job ripping out the ensuite, which is to become the main bathroom, and get that sorted. Hmmmm, walls to come down, more beams to expose, floor to be done, pumbing etc etc, etc nightmare!
The house seems to be getting messier not better. Now who thought this was a good idea?

Nice one ALias, glad it all worked out OK. They aren't all out to get us! :)

LC, Such a shame, what's the builder saying when you approach him re missed deadlines etc?

PP, Any updated pics of your place? Remember you were buying yours/selling it as we were buying ours and you went through a lot selling your old place! That was on the 'buying house/renting' forum :)

ps, btw, my names Sam and I'm a guy :D

:D It has been known in fancy dress! So....... I've got a bit of a timeline Lowri made of our garden from when we bought last year to now. Quite a few photos and I don't have a blog. If I make small pics on here for you to make large if you wish, does anyone mind me sticking up on this thread? Should show you what's possible even with a bit of a small garden and we are quite proud :)
