    Lovely dog!!!

We went to see 2 other houses this weekend. One I just discarded as soon I stepped out of it. OH wasn't happy. The views were lovely, with the house being on the hill, but I didn't like the layout (to go out from kitchen to patio you have to trek all the way to front door, all the way through the lounge/diner to the patio.), no ceiling light in the libing room, just some wall lights, and the boiler was in bedroom 2, with the boiler being in the wardrobe and on the other side of the wall you would have your main bedroom with the head to that wall. Ok, it might be well vented, but I am not liking the set up and the noise would be an issue too.

The second house was great, huge, nice area, big rooms, we would be redoing ensuite 1 (there are two!!!), maybe other one and the main bathroom in the future.

But when we came home, we couldn't stop talking about the renovation house. So, we spend all Sunday thinking about pros and cons of all the houses, and OH looking if we can afford to do this. I have to say it would be tight, but I think we can do it, unless there is something else lurking in the cupboard that we haven't thought off. I hope he booked a second viewing for when the builder he knows can join us for the viewing, so it would give us a better feel if we can do what we want.

We are not closing the door on the second house we saw over the weekend, but the door for renovation project is very wide open at the moment! (Just how do we get it for a good price????)

grrr spent ages typing a message and just lost it so start again..

Cute pup..hope his settling in well and not wrecked the house yet!

    ginvzt, get that offer in!!!

Aliasojo, sorry to disappoint not taken shed pics yet...keep forgetting..poor excuse i know!

Well Friday night the shed installers were here from 5:30pm until about 9:45pm (just as got dark ). There were a couple of minor problems that were dealt with ...roof purlins had been cut marginally short which made fitting them more tricky and also there were not enough of the right nails for all the cover strips that cover the panel joins - fortunately i had a bag of suitable nails that i dug out. Glad i paid them to install it rather than attempt ourselves as we'd still be constructing it now. Shed looks really good..does dominate the garden but that was to be expected. Door is 5'6" high so i've nearly knocked myself unconscious a couple of times as i'm a few inches taller and keep forgetting to duck as i step in/out...today is the first day i've remembered to duck everytime so i'm learning! Satellite tv still works so i got my calculation all right and the dish can't be seen at all from the house now.

Saturday afternoon i adjusted the padbolt on the door which was a bit too tight. Then put a rimlock on the door. That took forever as i had to add some timber to the door and drill holes for mortice knob and keyhole in correct places...was also a constant battle against the wind which kept moving the door.

Sunday whilst doing some vacuuming of the bedroom I discovered one of the middle castors on the bed had broken/collapsed inwards on itself- not sure how long it had been like that. We only got the bed in February so wasn't impressed. So i took the mattress off unbolted the bases and turned it over..gluing didn't work so i ended up using garden wire to hold it together as a temporary repair. Monday morning i phoned bed shop (got through after a couple of hours of being engaged) and spoke to the owner who said he just so happened to be delivering a bed to our area in the evening so would try get to us if he could. Turned up about 9pm and swapped the castor over in a few minutes...big relief and didn't cost anything. Really impressed by the bed shop ...though he reckoned it may have been their own fault as they knocked the castors in when they delivered it so maybe had damaged it then.

Shed electrics should be done tomorrow hopefully. Then i can get on with building a workbench and sorting out shelving before i can start filling the shed up.

I would, but my OH 'doesn't like to be pressured'! We are going back to the house with the person who will be able to cast an independent eye on it all. If all is fine, we have a max figure in mind, which we will be putting forward. But - it is the max and we wouldn't be offering more.

Oh, and they have an offer already, which is 'acceptable to vendor'.

And - the new built houses very close to us have just been reduced, and a 4-bed detached (rather nicely sized) is now on for £215k and 5% deposit paid. There only a couple of houses left to sell, and I guess the developer wants to get out and move on (there 2 or 3 other small sites around, one just starting), so we might walk over there and have a look...

Gin, sounds like you might be too late on the refurb house...unless vendor has the lack of morals to gazump or the other offer backs out after survey (in which case you might not want it either!).
