First-time house renovation

thats a good idea, do they need full sun as the truggs are shocking pink and well i havent really incorporated any space for a veg bed although we did look at rasied bed that was sort of waste height, definatley something i want to be doing (probably too late this year) but i would like to do something like that next year. Perhaps i coudl have them round the back of the extension (not much sun there though):o
I think spuds will do better if they have sun, but if they get it for half the day my guess is they'll do OK. It's not too late to get seed potatoes for this year, try your local Wilkinsons, or some of the seed places are doing them cheap now. You need to chit them before planting (leave in a cool light place till they get little shoots on them), though some folks say it's not really necessary.
Might be nice to get your girls to help? I bet they'd feel really proud to produce potatoes for a family meal! And good for them to learn that veg grow in the ground too.
Or you could use the trugs for flowers - lots of pink and purple ones maybe? Old fashioned pinks are very sweet smelling, and I've had some success in pots with them (the rabbits eat them if I put them in the ground  ).0 -
Hi Everyone,

Hey all,
Stolt - the garden looks amazing!!! I am very jealous!
Ours is looking worse as we managed to aquire a new shed. Really pleased about this as it means we can move all the tools into it but need to take the old one down first.
Quick gardening Q - I have courgettes, french beans, sweetcorn and tomatoes all in pots indoors. They are getting quite big but I'm still worried about frost outdoors? Again, I also have some small plants which I need to put outdoors also. Will they be protected from frost if nr the house and in one of those plastic covered wire rack things?
Jamtart - great news!!! feels really good when you get the bathroom inHow exciting the count down to the move!
Lisa - I'm really sorry to hear about you and Stuart. Sorry I didn't pick up on this earlier. Great news you have a lodger. We have one too ... they are quite fun, if a little annoying! Really helps us pay the bills
Hope everyone else is doing ok. 5 weeks till puppy time. Want to see a cute pic?!0 -
Jimbugalee, How old is the pup now? Puppies are so cute at that age..i vaguely remember ours being able to run underneath the bars at the bottom of the dining chairs. We had ours at just 8 weeks old so hadn't had injections or any sort of house training...let's just say the first weeks were alot of work and we didn't get much sleep ..it gets easier honest!!
Lisa, didn't get round to posting here yesterday but glad to see you back "in the fold" . So glad you've come through everything as quick as you have with the keys to the house in your hand still and most importantly getting back in control of things! With your determination i'm sure you'll be fine (but if you need a shove in the right direction drop me a line!)! Now you can get on with making that house into your home properly! First time renovator or not..keep in touch0 -
Hey andrew,
The puppy is almost 4 weeks old. We don't actually have him yet. The breeder is weaning this week. We get mid June. Far too exciting!! Yes, I'm thinking sleepless nights for a while.0 -
Isn't it strange how small furry things can make wrinkles appear attractive.
He's just lovely, jim.

Hi Lisa, how strange - about the time you posted this I was sitting in the back living room at the house looking out at the garden, and I found myself wondering how you were doing. I'm so glad to hear you'll be back on the renovations again soon! :j
