Hi Everyone, hope you had a nice weekend! We finished our main bedroom (wardrobes to be fitted next week!!) and utility room.

Next stop - box room! Hopefully shouldn't take too long. Skirting board was done at the weekend and will be painted this week and room to be lined and papered! Exciting!

Just wondering where you have all got your door handles / knobs from? I'm after something like this: http://www.homebase.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=20001&partNumber=046811&Trail=searchtext>MORTICE+KNOB but at that price.. and with 7 doors to buy for it's going to work out a little pricy!

Sounds good Littlerose - do we get to see piccies? :D

Our door handles came from a builders' merchants - our builders sent us along and we were allowed to put them on his account so we got his discount. They weren't expensive (under £10 a pair) so only time will tell if the quality is good enough to last but the builders said they were good ones. Can you get to a proper builders' merchants rather than the DIY sheds?

There are lots of places to get door knobs on the 'net but it's a case of googling then checking them all to see whether they have anything close to the design you want but I think you should be able to get something cheaper than £24.99.
  • Thanks TomsMum, I didn't think to check builders' merchants.. just called and they can do them for £15 and will give me a discount as I need 7! :)

I took a couple of pics of the utility on my phone so I'll try to blog them in a bit :)

quick question as i now that some of you have fitted the oak internal doors like these. can i ask where you got them from, cheapest we can find is about £200.00 and we need 15 of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe too late now stolt but I got these from Howdens. A joiner agreed I could 'use' his account but I bought direct from Howdens and paid by cc. They just really needed a tradesman's account to link the sale to since they're only supposed to sell to trade.

Can't remember exactly how much I paid but it was around £85 per door.

I can only see the top picture and then from the 4 one down onwards. the others have been filtered out by our new filter system at work as being of adult content
I'll check them out when I get home.

Nothing to report on ours, I spent saturday cleaning up as OH is having constant sinus problems due to the dust. Will be informing builder of his new scehdule for the downstairs tomorrow morning. I'm sure he'll love it :D

Minor update - got emailed the report which says its Chrysotile - which I had to google to find out thats its white asbestos. not good news but no idea what we are going ot do about it. General guidance would appear to be leave it alone if its in good shape which it appears to be. Obviously they've cut about 25 holes in it already and we dont want any more done. I would like it removed but I dont want to disturb it any more than it has been already.

We are going to discuss it with the architect and see what he says. Very little progress is happening upstairs, plasterer was off for monday/tuesday and basically nothing else was done. Our oak skirtings, facings and standards should be on site tomorrow so they can start fitting them.

Also asked them to paint the outside of the dormers and soffits which is something I simply wouldn't do due to the height. I intend to do the ones round the extension though as
I'm not paying them any more than we absolutely have to.

the plumber builder is going to be on site tomorrow or over the weekend to get the radiators installed and he put in the flushing agent into the system at the same time so there is no excuse for the boiler not to be fully comissioned by the end of this stage.

they are great pictures! he looks so sweet!!

we're doing well! the joiners have put the partition walls up and door casings. The plasterer has done the living room..........and the electrician has let us down all week :( so the plasterer had to go on another job - hope he comes back as it was a miracle we'd got hold of him.

Need to insulate the loft tomorrow. Tiling bathroom almost finished. Need to grout 3 walls still.

Getting there slowly but surely! All of a sudden the end seems to be in sight....!!!
