Good luck! Look forward to seeing more pics!
If I had more time or didn't work, yes I would do it myself but work and social life is hectic right now!0 -
thanks!! we might need the luck!!
we have done as much as we can ourselves but I have to say, having the roofer do everything and not having to think about it is a weight off my mind, plus the kitchen is being fitted properly too, and the windows and the doors are being hung and the plastering and the heating is being paid to be done so all in all, its probably the biggest job we're going to do ourselves!
I know what you mean about life being hectic, it is nice when someone does stuff for you

Thats interesting that you all thought I was female. Must remember to type in a more "manly" way from now on
Relations with the builder is not improving and next time I have to speak to him could well be his last.
That said he is making progress on things - we have the 2nd velux fitted above the stairs AND the windows in the dormers. Ok there are huge gaps around the windows but then I suspect thats not that unusual. I'm sure they will be filled with expanding foam or something before all the facings are fitted.
Roofers have finished their side of things and we now have all the roof vents we require. We've also gone for a ridge vent in place of the 2 high level roof vents on the recommendation of the roofers. Need to do a lot of soffit ventilation to make up for the ones we haven't installed but thats a lot easier and cheaper to do. Although thats just reminded me that it should be done for this stage so I'll need to check with OH whether its still meant to be done in this stage or not.
Also about to phone the kitchen company to ask why I've not received a return call yet. They are now saying that we wont be receiving 2 replacements as only one is sufficiently damaged to warrant replacement, despite what I was told when I last phoned. I was going to order some additional stuff from them and get it delivered at the same time as the replacements but thats dependent on this being resolved.
Perhaps I should take it up with the credit card company and let them deal with it.0 -
Bathroom plaster boarded yesterday and being skimmed today so it'll be nice and pink! Helped andy up with the bath today too! Going to half resemble a room again tonight, whoopa!0

Our upstairs is starting to look like the real thing. The guys who were there yesterday were putting up the plasterboard and insulation around the dormers. Apparently they are going to be finished their stage by tomorrow so they can get payment but they still have all the plumbing to finish, electrics, all the soil pipe, vent and stack changes and also seal in the new windows too. And they have to finish the stair too which is going to be quite a job. And the boiler has to be fully commisioned too with all the paperwork filled in.
Will be interesting to see how much progress they have made by the end of the day.
edit: I've also been taking some pictures which I'll try and get on the blog at some point soon. Working 12+ hours a day at the moment so it probably wont be until next week sometime.0 -
And if the above jobs aren't done, zero payment I assume LC?0

Reading about good B&Q deals - we were intending on buying our Mira shower from there but missed the 15% off everything sale plus the inlaws were going to buy it with their 10% discount card. Got an email 15% voucher and sent them along with that instead and somehow they got it applied twice and hence we got it for less than we originally going to0
-
See above LC!
Brilliant about the shower, the big stores seemed expensive when it came to our shower!0 -
We didn't think we had the luxury of time so decided on the shower we wanted and then checked locally to see who had it in stock. B&Q had the best price at the time (and it was better than most online prices too to be fair), and then we got lucky with the discounts on top.
We are not going to be fitting it for a while though as the plaster still isn't fully dry in the showerroom so we haven't even yet tanked the shower area never mind tiled it. Also the electrics are finished as they are going to have to join the shower cable as its not long enough - to be fair it would have been for the original shower position although the shower wouldn't have fitted there!!!
And I've just heard that the builders will not be there over the weekend so we can get some peace. Mind you I'll probably be spending most of the weekend at work.0
