Thanks Stolt, it is a really nice feature! I have a friend who is an iron monger (handy!) so might see if he will do something similar for me!
latecomer - so sorry you are having problemsi hate cowboys. hope you sort them out soon, if not can you walk away and get someone else in?
Well our brickwork is almost finished and the roof can be started! I am SOOO happy! Never thought we'd get to this point. The windows man is also coming soon.
Also I've ordered the kitchen *jumps up and down* and the bathroom tiles and tiling begins on Thursday. I'm SOOOO excited that the bathroom suite will no longer be in one of the bedrooms!!!
We've also looked at doors, and had a price of £25 per door to hang them, is that about right?
Fingers crossed we can move in before we get married!!!
£25 per door isa good price, its something i have to look into doing for the internal doors (missus wants oak ones) bet there be a right pain to fit!! wont do it myself will get someone in to do it but theres a fair few doors to hang. I remember a few years back having a solid wooden frotn door hung and it took a day to get it right plus with all the locks etc. theres a real skill in it.Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0 -
We hung our own bathroom door and it's rubbish!!! Def a skill esp if you have any older house where frames aren't straight etc. The ones our friend did are so much better as he does it everyday. We have oak ones - they look nice0

Oh good, thanks for putting my mind at rest. I was initially like "no way we'll do them ourselves!" then my superhandy Dad said he did one cupboard door, took him a day and it wasn't quite right. If you're paying £100 a door you don't want it to look rubbish so we'll pay the £25
Also, don't know if you know but Wickes has a loyalty card now. We got £90 vouchers for ordering our kitchen there which will pay for at least one door
Does anyone have a Belling cooker? Are they good? Saw one reduced in Argos which would look fab in our kitchen....

Hi Everyone,
Not much to report really. Weve now got curtains in the spare room and blinds in Stuarts office (play room) and landing. Stuart has finished tiling the bathroom, just needs a blind and some skirting board now, oh and the door putting back on!
Still got lots of little jobs to finish like extractor fans and wiring up the garage, fitting the house alarm etc. I think its probably going to be never ending.
Still havent finished unpacking but almost. Then I will take some piccys of the almost finished house!
Next project is the garden!
stolt - We went on a garden design course and it was worth every penny. I think it was 10 weeks and cost £75 at a local college. They gave us such good advice and he used to be a landscape gardener so his experience was invaluable.
I also bought a few cheap garden design books from Amazon and they are also really useful.
jamtart6 - We paid about that too for our doors and theres no way I'd try it myself! Wouldnt have a clue how to fit the doorhandles ha ha Glad you got your kitchen ordered! What did you choose?
latecomer - So sorry to hear about all the problems you are having! I really feel for you! Basically all the trades people (other then the window man) have been such pains and made it all very stressful! Theres just no need when you are paying them to do a job.
Just a word of warning, you may find it difficult to find another builder to take on someone elses job. We nearly did this but was warned off by a few people.
Definately hold back payment until you are happy otherwise you wont see them for dust!

thanks, actually someone mentioned a course to me at work the other day, didnt even think about that to be honest. I would definately like to have an outsiders input. I can think of lots of things I like but want to keep it simple so it looks good and low maintence. Bought some books from amazon, in fact i bought so many i could have paid for two courses, although they are good to look at i want something that i can view it in 3D, without sounding to show-offy - i want to sink the lawn down into the ground about 2-3ft and have a pure white rendered wall about it and the top edge.... :rotfl:i know what i mean anyway:o. then i'm going to use artificial turf in the bottom of it (had it at the last house and it was a godsend, chidlren could play out in the garden this time of year no mud, no mess, brilliant stuff - oh and no mowing)
its just trying to find some software so i can recreate it to show a landscape garden. Might get a couple round and get them to draw something up and see how much it will cost.Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0 -
How much do you reckon for a stable door?Pawpurrs x0

Literal stable door?! Do you have a link to how it'll look PP?
Looking great STOLT!
I love this thread! Our bathroom suite came this morning, all tiles here, underfloor heating in, taps, shower, just screen to go! Still not chosen! I now want a concertina screen which when folded back can be swung away from the bath!0 -
No Not literally a back door, in two halfs.
Getting the cooker back, washing machine etc in the kitchen tonight, floor all finished, just waiting for the kitchen now!:jPawpurrs x0 -

thanks, yeah i love this thread too. sometime i have a quick browse when i'm at work and i'm disappointed when nobody has listed any updates.
we went for the shower screen as you want from bathstore in our other house, it worked pretty good and looked good most importantly. Did have some issues with it in that our shower head came out of the wall and it the screen itself never really gave me a proper seal against the bath rim. Quite expensive from memory - well more than what i thought it would be!:DListen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0 -
All of our bath suite came from the bathstore, got it in the sales and haggled a load more money off! I've read so much about the concertina screens that don't extend far enough with water flying all over the place but we also want to be able to swing away from the bath, this is proving relatively difficult!
I have the odd look when at work too, infact I'm on now just before another meeting, off now, byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
