:( the builder couldnt come at the weekend. I've just lost all motivation despite knowing that we want to get X,Y and Z done by Christmas :(

We put our tree up but the house is so cold, dusty and bare, it feels like anything BUT home. I don't think we'll be moving in before next June at this rate but neither of us can snap out of it at the moment :(

Hope everyone else is doing well and that TD is doing well also X

  • Hi all,

Fairly busy weekend here ... updated blog http://seatonroad.blogspot.com/

Wow, lots to catch up on!

Lisa - looking forward to a picture of your flooring. We need to replace the floorboards in the lounge and need inspiration. I'm pleased to hear it doesn't cost too much. I can assure you our lounge definitely isn't 35m2!!

Maggie - Sorry I can't help you re insurance as we did a similar thing to TomsMom where it was only a short period of time we weren't living here and we were here most evenings and every weekend. I bet some people aren't in their homes that much!!

TomsMom - good to hear you got out to go shopping. It's nice to have some time to yourself. Looking forward to piccies of your card making :) Hope TD is continuing to do well x

HH - great news about fence. Hope you do manage to get the wire removed.

We've got a busy week this week. Fire and slate being delivered and then windows and doors being fitted on Wed/Thurs. Then on Fri we're off to Marrakech for a long weekend!! Hope it's nice and warm there :)

oh no JT :( I know what it feels like to just feel rubbish about the whole experience and the house!! Are there any different goals you can set before Xmas so you have something to work towards and make you feel a bit better about things? *hugz*

For Jamtart, a great big warm

    HUG

Disappointment (and tears) are all part and parcel of the renovation journey. I feel your disappointment, it wont make you feel better but you know that there will be an end and it will be all lovely. Just do what you can to make your house all Christmassy and go with the flow. Also be very proud of what you have achieved and what you have taken on :T.

It must have been lovely to close the door and enjoy your lovely bath. Great taps! Great cooker too, all the better for being a freebie.

Hope everything goes according to plan this week, enjoy Marrakech.

Mega jealous of the bath Jim. What shop did you pick your tiles/suite/taps from again? Not sure I have yours written down..... The old lady who we bought off had a disability so only a shower in the bathroom however the lure of a bath is too much and will be installed in January or so, can't wait!
  • The tiles are natural stone - travertine tiles. There are so many places to buy them from ranging from £20 per sqm to over £60 if you aren't careful. Our tiles, adhesive and grout were from Kudos Flooring and ended up paying about £22 a sqm which I am super happy with :)

The bathroom suite is from B&Q. (bath is 'Curve', basin is 'Toronto' and toilet is 'toilet to go!!') I've heard some negative things re quality but our particular one I don't have a problem with at all. We got it all on half price and then another 10% off so a bargain! :)

The taps are also from B&Q and were half price. They were just too much money if not and we couldn't justify it. They are the 'Cascade' ones.

I will be SOOOO pleased when we can finally say we've finished the bathroom but quite a lot still to go. Tonight we will seal all round the edges and bath etc. Then the electrics have to be completed (under floor heating, heated mirror, light etc) and have to be signed off by the council and the soil stack has to be boxed in. Then I can get all the accessories woop woop!

I think I'd always have to have a bath and shower now as I really do use both. The men only really use the shower.

We have the B&Q Toilet To Go too and haven't had any issues! Looks lovely! :) Did you change your toilet seat too..? :)
  • Ours didn't come with a toilet seat as someone must've stolen it from the box so we chose another from B&Q anyway. I think we'll get a soft close one eventually but ours is certainly ok for now :)

We probably would've have chosen that toilet only that we thought the soil pipe would have to come out of the side at the back so needed a toilet that didn't go right to the back like most of them do now.

Prolly teaching my grandmother, but don't forget to half fill the bath with water before sealing it.

Bathroom looking really good - bet you're glad to have a door in place now!
