P.S. Just noticed your sig, I wasn't allowed to put a link to my blog either, so I've put it in my profile as my "home page".
P.P.S. I've subscribed to your blog Stolt. What a beautiful house. Love the gas fire (saw that on another thread a while ago, it almost made me cry!). Love the big mirror. If I'd have seen that spider I'd have had to change my undies!0 -

thanks for the kind comments about the house, slowly getting there but i have to say its been one problem after another with each thing we have tried to do, nothing is ever easy. This was suppose to be our lucky house.
With regards to the building firm we are in talks with them at the moment but they have gone into liquidation and they have already told the creditors that there is no money in the company to pay them. Trades have stopped turning up for three weeks now and it seems that even if i get new trades in (the half finished wiring will have to be ripped out and done again and no electrician wants to sign off someone elses half finished job!) if that wasnt hard enough the ceiling has been plasterboarded and plastered now! So the extension will have to partly finsihed by me and will have see what other trades i can get in cheaply to help. But its not the finish we wanted. The boss of the firm said that he has started up another firm and the new firm will buy the exsisting client database and morally he said he had a duty to complete the works. I have everything crossed but have a distinct feeling we are high and dry.Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0 -

thanks, spiders i think we habve a gang of them in the loft, the minute the heating came on they kept dropping out of the loft hatch... size of your hand i tell you!!! I nearly trod on that one when i was walking down the stairs int he morning:rotfl: although if i had i doubt i would be laughing..
the wife wanted a bigger more panoramic fireplace but we couldnt have one because these newbuilds have tiny fireplaces so we only managed to squeeze that one on. Does look lovely and i'm glad we spent the money on it now. Cant wait for crimbo eve and I've got 'the snowman on tv' front doors closed and locked to the outside world and the fire is on..... bliss;)Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0 -
looked at your blog last night stolt..you've done loads to your pad. Looks good and puts our place to shame...went to bed thinking i must get on with mine so given me a bit of inspiration to get off my backside. Ours just looks a dump at the moment as i have a habit of starting jobs and not finishing them! Unfortunate about the builders though hopefully they'll finish somehow. Anyway will make it easier helping with your questions now i can picture it!
thanks, yes its partly why I wanted to see a few more blogs on other houses, there are times at the weekend when i'm doing something on the house and feeling fed up and bored and i want to sit in front of the tv with the kids and you need that little push to get things going again. We have done quite a bit but then me and the missus are relentless neither of us have any patience and just want it all done now. With the bigger jobs we obviously havent done them ourselves so have had to learn some patience while waiting for various trades to come in and do there bit. We keep calling this house our final house so unlike the house we had a few years ago we are spending the money on it and rather than getting the cheapest we are making sure that we get a quality this time. The missus was there til 11.30pm scraping the paint from the stair bannister last night! I got a new heat gun and tried it out last night and set all the fire alarms off:rotfl:
Thanks for all your help with my questions, i'm sure there will be plenty more.:oListen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0 -
OH rang a bit ago to say our sol phoned him at work to say we've exchanged! Completion on 11th December.
Gulp! Not sure whether to feel :j or
So I think I'll leave planting the garlic and shallots till they can go in the garden... Hmm, maybe be better to do them in large pots for now as not sure how sluggy the garden is. There's frogs and toads, so hopefully not too sluggy. But better safe than sorry!
I know it's early, but I'm going to get a celebratory G&T and then after Doctors I'll get up and make the fire.
Gotta get decluttering! (sounds of manic laughter  )
