Where's Andy, did he get married on Saturday or is it next week?
I'm here :D ...was on saturday just gone! :j Whole thing was really great and a really enjoyable happy day! Fortunately the weather held out with sunny intervals ..but being on the clifftops it was pretty windy for the photos and there was a bit of a struggle for photographer and me holding down my wife's veil! Lucky we'd specified no hats else they would all be floating in the sea now! Confetti and bubbles didn't really end up on us at all! Anyway all went smoothly and as planned. Quite a few were staying at the hotel so had sunday breakfast and sunday lunch with guests too. Got to spend Sunday morning on our own for a leisurely clifftop walk. After a few hints that we wanted time alone, everyone left by late Sunday afternoon so spent a nice relaxing evening at the hotel. Came back monday morning after breakfast, took suits back and picked up dog (he wasnt too happy we'd left him in kennels and ignored me pretty much all day!).

Unfortunately i fell over and twisted my other ankle at start of the reception on saturday but carried on regardless and still had a dance for much longer than everyone expected me too. Was limping around the hotel the rest of the weekend though!

Rest of this week to be spent relaxing together at home whilst OH has time off work.

Some ***t just hit OH in the car on her way back from shops whilst waiting to pull out at a roundabout - they sped past in some 4x4 and bumper caught side ..fortunately got away with only a few scratches on the driver's side front wheel arch and mirror. The guy didn't even stop and OH didnt get the numberplate! I've managed to t-cut and polish the worst of it but still shows if you look closely.

Not had a chance to catch up yet. Will try get some pics up on the blog sometime as expecting a few of you will be pestering me for them soon!

    hi,

its my first post on this thread.

just want to say i have been renovating my house one room at a time. completely gutted out the bathroom. bathroom is more or less done now. the small bedroom has been completely gutted and dry lined. i have a plasterer coming in tomorrow.

plasterer works in and around west yorkshire. room is about 3 x 3 meters. plasterer is charging £150 including the ceiling.

what do you guys think of the plasterers charge? bargain or just ok?
complete bargain. Make sure you've seen their work. I got family rates and paid £200 per room for an excellent job but many can pay £600 for that size room

OI YOU! Now that's just not fair. You denied Mom getting all soppy and gooey and sending you and Mrs Andy wedding day wishes. You probably didn't even tell your pup what you were up to, no wonder he wont speak to you. :D Ah, I'm not really mad. And you know that your cyber Mom wishes you both a wonderfully happy future, I hope everything you wish for comes true. Just glad that you enjoyed the day and that the weather wasn't too bad.

Sorry to hear about the ankle, not having much luck there are you. Also, bad luck about OH in the car. I had something similar where an oncoming car's wing mirror knocked and smashed my wing mirror on a road where there was parked cars his side which he ignored and sped through what narrow bit of road was available at well over the 30mph limit. Made one helluva bang, lucky it was only the mirror, any further over and it would have been nasty.

Perish the thought, no idea what you're on about :rotfl:

Maggie We had 6 months council tax free also while the renovations were carried out. Not sure of the date but I have a feeling OH told them the date of completion.

xs11ax :hello: Hiya and welcome. Agree that price is quite cheap. I'm sure our builders told us £200 per ceiling although that was for removing old cracked ceiling, plasterboarding and plastering, but we ended up having virtually the whole house skimmed as well so it didn't get broken down to individual prices in the end. I see Latecomer is pestering you to start a blog and show us some photos  (:rotfl: sorry Latecomer, couldn't resist, xs11ax I have to confess I might, just might, have hinted at blogs and photos in the dark and distant past). Anyway, got any photos? You could start a blog. :D

I m a plasterer by trade though the first thing you need to do if its got problems, is to make the house watertight otherwise, anything that you do and then it leaks , will be wasted.
roof first then, electrics, plumbing, plastering painting.

    Outside kitchen/toilet comes down

Just been asked why post these pictures ( kids )

Every picture is what was achieved by a bunch of friends
No professionals ( where i used builders will say so )

There were four teachers / P.O. engineer/two accountants /a scientist
motor mechanic/two printers and a salesman.

If we could do it , so can you .

    Sorry cant remember the name
Was talking about installing a concrete floor
My pictures will be posted soon
DIY is the way to go.

A level screed is a job for the professionals.

All of the ground floor was removed , pipes protected and hardcore installed
    (rear chimney breast)

I stood on the mud , looked up and where the chimney was, I saw the sky :D
the only time I thought I might be over ambitious.

Removing the stairs , it would be a ladder for weeks

    floor3.jpg

    All concrete mixed on site

    Info was got from books

Great pics. Slightly worrying that 2 people appear to be holding up the prop while the RSJ is being inserted :D

I've just taken the plunge and ordered the Jeld-Wen patio doors from screwfix. I'm hoping they will contact me at some point to specify which direction they fold but if not its not the end of the world. If we really dont like them then we'll send it all back :)
