If you are tiling floor to ceiling, do you need something like Aquaboard? Don't the tiles and grout make a waterproof surface?
Think it is personal choice really. The people before us had tiles and grout all the way to the ceilling, we pulled the tiles off and the wall crumbled away because it hadnt been sealed/grouted properly. hence why we went for the tough stuff.

our timescale is the much more sensible "christmas" when everyone asks :D a full 12 months to get it sorted..and im hoping it will be completely done by then. hopefully move in earlier if extension goes to plan :)

We said 2 years when we moved in but at the rate we are progressing it could 5 by the time its finished. Mind you we did get messed about by an architect for about 6 months which didn't help!

Gav - my son is a tiler and for shower areas and around baths he always used waterproof adhesive and waterproof grout. Sometimes the grout can crack and water can get through underneath. When we had our shower done recently we also used Bal Waterproofing kit to tank the area before tiling. Also use a good quality silicone sealer.

Well, still no son and d-i-l to move my sideboard back into the lounge yet so I've taken some photos and updated my blog seeing as I haven't got a lot else to do!

Thats the same kit we used although we paid a lot less than that for it as we bought it at the same time we ordered the tiles and had negotiated a good deal on everything.

    Looks fantastic TM!

I'm hoping that once we get our bathroom finished we can quickly get another couple of rooms done so our bungalow starts feeling a bit more homely :)

We bought two kits as we needed one for the en-suite shower and one for the main bathroom, so we got them for just over the £50 each with free delivery I think. When delivered one of them had leaked, we rang up and they sent a third one out. There was still about half of the leaked one left so we had plenty in the end!

We moved the bathroom, so had to put up stud walling, we used the aqua panel instead of plasterboard.
We have changed most of the original layout. I will have to put before and after drawings on my blog.

TM - it must be nice to have it livable in. Hope OH doing well. I see he still managing to do a fair amount. When I had chemo and radiotherapy I dont think I hardly did a thing for a whole year!

Bloomin' lovely, I'm so glad to be seeing the back of builders' dirt and dust now, it's amazing how far it goes.

There's quite a few words to describe him - stoical (as he has been throughout all his treatment, he's even refused numbing when he has his bone marrow and bone samples taken), determined, then there's stubborn, then there's stupid. He thinks he's invincible and can go on forever and some days he's running himself into the ground. He's a last minute Larry and some of the work could have been done before he got to this stage in the treatment but he prefers to leave everything and do it when there's no time left , hence he's now trying to get everything done before he goes to Bristol for the transplant. I don't know what to do or say to him, if I say to take it easy he replies he's fine so I now just let him get on with it, he'll stop when he feels he can't do any more.

Helloooo! I'm back! Sorry I've been away so long, we have been so busy. I started my new job today, and had all of last week off after finishing my last job on the 22nd. Didn't do much on the house, unfortunately, as I was busy sorting out stuff for the wedding and for my new job. However, we did get our new front door fitted! It looks lovely, I'm so pleased with it. I'm especially pleased with the Pilkington "Satin" glass that we chose, looks very modern and smart. There's a picture on my blog, if you want to see.
We had a bit of a nightmare when our washing machine leaked all over the conservatory, but hopefully it's ok now. We'll have to put down some new underlay and carpet next weekend as what was there was all mouldy! At least we've cleared out the conservatory.

Going off to catch up on all the posts and blogs now!

    Take care,

    BB
