All this moneysaving has made me impossible to buy for, I think. My birthday is next week and of course, Christmas is coming too but my poor hubby keeps coming up with suggestions only for me to say, "don't buy it there, I can get it cheaper!". Vouchers are the best thing for me too but I'm so tight now, I'll go without until the sales and spend them then! Sad or what?!!
  • Thing: Anything from Lush
    Bargain Price:
Cheapest place to get it: shops nationwide and mail order
Who it's suitable for: children to grannies
Any other info: This handmade toiletries shop allows you to spend as much or as little as you want. They gift wrap and sell ready made sets. No woman would decline anything from this shop.
  • Ag Silver Jewellery

Yes, I agree.......I bought my girlfirend a matching set in pink from my local jewellers who stock this brand. She was thrilled and it was not too much either. Ive found some online stockists but I think you are better off going to a shop to see it in the flesh and then you can also see more of the pieces. I actually ordered through their catalogue as they had sold out of the matching earrings I wanted.
    Good gift to buy.
  • My perfect Christmas present would be an intimate (strike that) very intimate dinner for two at La Posada de Antonio in Plaza Uncibay, Malaga - just myself and the owner, one Jose Antonio Dominguez Banderas.

Cost: £75 should get me a one way ticket with EasyJet, Antonio being the gentleman he is would insist on paying for dinner and if the evening goes as well as I hope, I shouldn't be needing a return flight

Where to get it: In my dreams

Alternatives: Any DVD featuring Sr. Banderas
  • I would like some jewellery, but most of the stuff I like is expensive.....so I have converted my Tesco clubcard vouchers in to Goldsmith vouchers and my OH has now got £170 of jewellery tokens to spend on me for only £42.50 Tesco tokens.

I think it is the first time Tesco have produced vouchers for a shop....fantastic offer.
No idea how many £2 coins as they are in a big tin.....but at least £20 since Christmas. :j
  • I want all our digital holiday photos printed so I can look through them the good old-fashioned way and enjoy the memories!

Jessops (the camera people) can produce a 'book' from your digital pictures, think it is around £20, look on their website.

Thanks, stevewild31, but the website asks me to register :-(

But you can see the idea (and others like a calendar) at:

  • A few of my younger female relatives are getting a pink USB flash storage drive this Xmas - £12.99, which is not a bad price at all for 128MB (plus £2.50 P&P) - and it's pink and lipstick-ish. £1 to breast cancer charities.

    And it's useful. :o

There are alternatives for less girly girls, both on this site and elsewhere, of course, and Swiss army ones if blades are not a problem. But this is very cute!

I got ours from https://www.digitalera.co.uk, which as far as I know is the only source.

Have to disagree here, I would not be impressed with anything from lush - and I won't be getting any coz the smell of the place makes my OH ill! As previous posters have said, toiletries are dodgy ground unless you are familiar with what someone already uses and even then, gift sets should be avoided as they tend to be really expensive. The person who mentioned The Sanctuary products being bogof in boots has the right idea - a bit of tissue paper and a nice gift bag sorts the packaging :D

Something I would like and never get is chocolates - possibly coz they are regarded as a plain, and uninventive gift. However, they must be 'nice' - Quality street are a bit lame.

    Thing: thorntons chocs or similar
Bargain Price: Spend £15 and get sml box free in thorntons atm
Cheapest place to get it: not much choice here - thorntons!
Who it's suitable for: ppl who aren't on a diet - then it is just cruel!
Any other info: WARNING! This is not a suitable present on its own - in that case it IS uninventive - chocolates MUST be accompanied by more unique gifts that indicate a bit of thought/effort.

As far as the unique bit goes ... my other 'wants' for christmas are a bit specific to me, i.e. OCR cast recordings of musicals - if you live in/near london the real thing might be a good idea though :D

Couldn't agree with you more about chocolates - I especially love the expensive Belgian chocolates you get at specialist independent chocolate shops! Not too many just a couple will do! Last year was given a lovely little box and inside the box found a couple of chocolates in another box and under that box a £15 gift voucher for a local beauty salon! My OH can be so romantic ...
