I've only just opened the FD bank account and don't know about paying in cash etc because I never have any :o It is the account that I have set up for my salary to go into and the direct debits to come out of, so it is all electronic for me, but they are part of HSBC I think so I would guess you can pay money in there over the counter. I only opened it 30th October, so early days yet for me as far as any pitfalls are concerned!

Will maybe look into it then.
  • My DD is in such a small room as it is that the next step would have to be in the cupboard under the stairs!
My DD thinks hers is smaller than the cupboard under the stairs:rotfl:but it does have a wonderful view :D

Love the smiley feeling Hypno my DD has to tidy her room tonight as she has to move out once a month to allow our respite foster child to move in for the weekend. She has admitted to the Social Worker that it is a good thing. She is so untidy I tried everything nagging, threatening, cajoling, putting her things in bin bags, in the end I carried out my threat and moved her into a smaller bedroom she was horrified at first but now likes it. At least there is less cubic space for her to fill. I will tell her about the smiley feeling I am sure she will relate:rolleyes:

DT my late sister was seriously untidy and my parents (along with me!) went in there one day when she was out and put EVERYTHING in bin bags, suitcases etc and shoved them in the loft and the garden shed. She had to earn stuff back AND if she didn't keep it clear the same thing happened again. :rotfl:, as her younger sibling it made me feel great as my room was always okay :D

Hiya Hypno, don't post much but always read! Just so you know, you can pay in over the counter at HSBC as well as use their deposit machine for notes/cheques (you will need your debit card for that tho!) I've been with FD for nearly 10 yrs and would never swap to anyone else.... I have found their CS to be excellent, there is something to be said for the phone being answered by a human who can understand what you're asking/talking about!

hope you have fun tonight with your extra 2, you will have to get them over every couple of weeks if it gets your daughter to keep her room clean.

the payment a day challenge is really motivating, i did it for a couple of months. i dont have an account i can do it with now though. my last credit card is on 0%, i have 1 secure loan, and the egg flexi loan. egg is my highest interest rate so im overpaying that but could you imagine how they would cope if i paid every day? i pay it in either £100 or £50 blocks. i loved seeing the natwest statement with all the payments on it.

Hi Sarahneedle!! Thanks for the FD info!

Well, I have two extra girls over - giggly, messy, and I am sure that none of them will want to go to bed when I say! I fed them pizza on the lounge floor and have sent them upstairs to watch a DVD :o OH has the easy option again, being at work.......and strangely enough he has to be at work extra early tomorrow when I will be getting everyone up and organised for school :rotfl:

I paid £100 to the egg loan today - my FD "new account" money. I know it should have gone towards "living" but I am still so so determined to get rid of that bloomin debt!

Today I am cooking a lovely storecupboard/fridge meal - roasted veggies with a tin of tuna and a tin of chopped tomatoes, herbs, garlic and black pepper, all shoved in the oven. It smells divine, cost next to nothing and is weightwatchers friendly.......and there is plenty for tomorrow's dinner too :D
