returning an item to comet

Options
ok, i brought an acer aspire one 8gb ssd version from comet on saturday. But now i've decided i want the 120gb hdd because the write speed on the 8gb is awful (didnt know this until i bought it) and i'd rather pay £45 more for the better model. i HAVE opened and used it for a bit but it was slow-ish (i want better performance)

Can anyone advise me if comet will let me exchange it for the better model?

Thanks,

James

    how long you had it??

Format it...take it back saying it doesn't work on your system (or a friends) and you want to upgrade....make sure you stay your ground and they will give it....the law clearly states THEY have to prove your wrong no longer YOU have to prove your right.......seeing as they will get some money out of you they probably will

mate i have no idea about linux but i'm guessing you should be able to right click on it and it will give you an option to format....the sooner you take it back the better the chance

Yeah it'll format the partition but how do you reinstall Linux on it?

Stupiud frickin moron. It's a laptop. It's dead easy to prove it's working simply by turning it on. How can you claim it doesn't work on your system or a friends one when it's a complete self contained computer?

Secondly, they don't have to offer a refund. They're quite within their rights to offer a replacement and you have to allow them to.

Its comments like this that intimidates me within this forum, and prevent me from seeking advice on occasions.

Why post such utter offensive remarks, you can get your point over quite easy, without having to be offensive.

The only possible thing you have going for you is the very subjective "not fit for purpose". Certainly no harm in trying to get a refund but I don't think with what you've said that's necessarily concrete and have any rights over it. That's not the same as accepting it however as you can use the age old "bad customer service" argument (which isn't the same thing as what they're required to do by law).
