Roseby's?

Comments

  • Called in at our local Roseby's yesterday, as there were big posters outside stating 50% off, and 'closing down'.
Couldn't find anything with 50% off, and were hard pushed to find a few things with 30% off! Very disappointing. Hope someone else has more luck!

    SNAP !!!

I decided to make the nearly 50 mile round trip this afternoon armed with a list of 6 window sizes that I needed to buy for and came back having spent not one penny at Roseby's. They had the closing down sale signs but hardly anything was reduced

Definitely not worth a special trip but did manage to grab a few bargains from primark and got dd's pressie from elc and the 25p hsm stickers from asda homestore so wasn't a completely wasted journey.

Our local store has a Bensons for Beds within it. We went there yesterday to get a new mattress and the store assistant told us that Roseby's have a closing down sale advertised all over the windows outside but as of yesterday had not reduced one single thing - they still have four weeks to go apparently so I guess they'll leave it as long as they can before marking things down (??) .

Must admit - I didn't realise that the company had gone into administration till reading this thread... I just thought it was ours that they were closing down!

I too have always found the staff in there really friendly and helpful whenever I have been in for anything!
  • I made a special trip to the branch in Rotherham Parkgate, plenty of signs saying closing down sale, but no reductions of note inside!!?? I wouldn't bother making the trip, wasn't worth it!

  • my local had hand written 'closing down everything must go' signs in the window but inside none of the prices were reduced! I queried if the stock was going to another local branch when the SA told me they were all closing
  • As a Rosebys employee I thought I would clear a few things up.
    1) No-one is yet aware of when or if we are likely to cease trading as we have been asked by the admininstrators to continue trading as normal at this present time (so I have no idea where Bensons have gotten that info (unless the branch in question was one where the rosebys was already closing before the company went into administration).
2)The instructions issued when we were advised we were going into administration were to place signs in the window advising we were closing down and NO MENTION TO BE MADE OF SALE. If the stores that you have visited have sales signs up they aren't following instructions that were issued.
    3) The signs about percentages off products would be referring to specific preplanned product reductions (i.e offers already in place) and most point of sale would say UPTO 50% off and if a store has run out of the offer that is 50% off we would normally still have to keep the posters up.
    4) plzhelpmesave : - We are not overpriced when comparred to the rest of the market, at my particular branch we have up until quite recently done competitor surveys and on the retail park where my branch is situtated we have Argos, Instore, Homebase and Next and over the road is Tescos and I can tell you for the same products (especially the branded items) our prices are either the same or in many cases cheaper. Another member of staff who has worked for the company for just under 20 years claims our 12 tog duvets are the same price as when she joined the company.
    5) The majority of staff who work for Rosebys are highly trained (inclusive of saturday kids, and upper levels of managerment) in all products we sell, which is not the case for much of the retail sector (try going to ask what tog duvet you need for a young child or what size curtains you need or what thread count means and the reasons why these are important , in the above mentioned stores)

Just had to vent a little as I disagreed with some comments made in the thread.

Which is presumably one of the reasons for administration - one of the best ways to keep costs down is to employ poor staff and give them little training.
Unfortunately the Rosebys situation is going to be replicated and WE are to blame - all of us who scour the web for the best prices and bargains are driving down retail prices, and the inevitable outcome will be that some (or even many) people will lose their jobs.
That's the price of cheap shopping I'm afraid.

  • Bubblepirate Try not to get too upset about the comments. Look at them again and see all the good things that were said about the staff. Not many shops would get so many positives!

roseburys are rubbish and well over priced compared to some outlets in my local area.. there sale is a pile of crap,,,,:j
  • as an employee of rosebys all my staff are trainned to the higest standards and are polite to all customers who walk through my shop door. Yes we are closing down and losing our jobs but we are all standing firm until the end. Our prices have always been reasonable it is just customers want something for nothing until they find out we are bust then they flock to see want they can get for nothing. If we had the support that we are getting now we would not be in this position.

The Horsham branch has the shutters down permanantly, but the lights are in inside? Not sure what is going on, but maybe ring them before making a special journey there.
(((HUGS)))) for all those losing jobs x
