Hi all. Just updated sig £99.63!!!!!!!!! :T This is too good to be true. But as I said previously DH is offshore so it makes a big difference to the shopping bill as kids would eat pasta every night if I let them!
Going to MrS after school today, I have a list and will go to the woopsie section and try to be really good. Have only got to take DD2 with me so she shouldn't ask for toooo much!
Hope everyone is having a good month, I'm trying to start for christmas, have a few things in but as I'm having such a good month may get some goodies in and hide away for chrimbo.
    Ta ta for now, Taffy

I might actually manage an NSD today -- although when my back locks up later it's going to be hard to make myself walk in the opposite direction to the shops !!!

Well, that's NSD in terms of GC shopping anyway...... wanted a paper (and free DVD), which would have meant going to Mr T and being tempted to check Whoopsie section -- but a friend was going into the next town up again to do some banking, so I gave her the money for the paper and she picked it up from WHS for me (she was passing the store anyway) :T

In return she's been given 5lb of the cooking apples my Dad left, and has taken 5lb for another 'outside school Mum' -- so now I only have 34lb to deal with

  • morning folks-
not been able to keep up with the thread this month but still plugging away at the old budget. So far this month we have spent £266.22 which included a morrisons shop this morning so we are ok for at least a week now unless of course i have forgotten something( usually do!).
Managing to put away a few bits for xmas out of the budget too- i have a box under the bed!!! So far have tin of choccy biscuits, family size crackers, tea, coffeee, bottle of wine and pack of lager.
Need to do loads of baking as my freezer doesnt contain much on the goodies side of things or much for lunchbox fillers either. think i will have to get my bum in gear later today, but i seem to be spending all my days off lately being really busy baking to keep up with my brood.
Agree with others bring back mrs mc and co. loved all your posts kept me motivated .
enough rambling off to the xmas thread to save money there too.
    keep up the good work

    Afternoon all

Just crawled out of the bath - I have the cold from hell, thanks to hubbies dopey work mate turning up to work coughing n spluttering all over him, and hubby catching his lurgey and passing it on to me
Not sure which is bugging me most -how rough I feel! or how much I have had to fork out on concoctions to try and make us feel half human  -OK OK ..we know which one it is :rotfl:
I will add €20 to my total in a moment  ....
    • packet of cold n flu capsules -gone -on packet 2
    • bottle of chesty cough stuff -nearly gone
    • whole box of tissues for my poor nose -gone
and we allready had throat spray, lozenges, tickly cough stuff in the house

Anyway -enough moaning :rotfl: -on the up side im not eating anything, and don't need the heating on as im shooting from freezing cold to red hot-So I'm wrapped up in hubbies kosavan blanky but have to have all the doors n windows wide open

Its not very often I catch anything -but if i could just have delayed it a week  -I had allready asked my mum to send me some wonderful boots cold n flu tablets ready for winter- and they are on their way

Im in desperate need of fruit, so when hubby gets back from duty tomorrow morning I can see a trip to ALDI coming on-it will be a dash in and out job mind as I can't see me staying on my feet for long

anyway -enough waffle..hope everyone else is ok and doing ok with this month..
im shuffling back off to the sofa :o

Afternoon all. Have had a few GC NSD's (but I did spend £15 on a new coat as I dont have one!) but need to do the weekly shop this afternoon in MrT for fresh bits and ingredients for my butternut squash, spinach and lentil dahl for dinner tonight. I have a money off coupon too so should keep my bill down.

I actually think we are on target this month woo hoo am very happy about it.

Can I just ask please when you bulk out the mince with oats is it literally just throwing a handful or two in? You dont need to do anything else (except maybe add some water)?. Sorry sounds silly I know but just thinking about it as I want to make batches of various mince dishes later and will be adding lentils to some and wanted to add oats to others.

  • Oh dear Mrs Mc, thats sounds like an awful cold/flu hope you feel better soon.

My fridge freezer arrived yesterday and I have spent £9.50 in Mr M's today getting 2 x chickens/2 x peas/1 x roasties (never usually buy this sort of stuff but my main shopping is coming from Mr A's and has 2 x bags of potatoes in them and I really feel like roast chicken tonight) and a few other offers too  Just looked at my Mr A order and the total was coming out at £105  and realised that alot of this was down to pure panic/stockpile ordering and we can't afford to do that til payday, so I got rid of a load of stuff and cut it back to £75, even though this still stocks us right up so I will feel happy I have enough in should something go wrong with the banks/shops
So, tonight we have a quick roast dinner to use up veg from last week and then the next few days I can make a fresh batch of chick stock, maybe a chicken cottage pie for the frezer and another meal for us all :D

Edit - sorry, don't know about oats but I would like to know too as I might try that next time too.

Hi mummygems - I usually brown the Mince first then add a handful or 2 of Oats and then depending on what I'm making I then add stock or the liquid ingredients but you will find that you will need more liquid as the oats soak up loads. I've been bulking out meals like this for ages now and no-one has noticed.;)
