  • What an absolutely disusting post, shame on you for trying to tout for business, following the press releases this weekend. .

Think you need to re read my post,

Howdens are in business but I'm also giving everyone the oppotunity to shop at the other kitchen companies listed above..(all are competitors of Howdens)

Howdens will NOT deal direct with MFI customers...
We are TRADE only and any MFI retail customer will have to find a Howdens account holder.

How fair can I be ???

We are in business and although it's not nice when one company fails to deliver but another one profits. Thats life.
I do feel sorry for those members of staff that work for the MFI group, after all its not their fault that their company is failing.... Or is it, Poor service/ Poor relationships, failing to deliver, bad attitude???.
Thousands of peoples jobs could have been at risk and still will be whilst consumer confidence is restored, because of this type of scare mongering. .

If you was in touch with this business, you'll understand MFI are not saved yet.

Gary Favell ( Ex Magnet CEO) has brought up the company in a management buy out,
There's still outstanding debt and there's the quarterly rent to pay (£19 Million)

Some Shops will shut and some people will loses their jobs.
Its not scare mongering, its fact.....

    And lastly......
My source is posted above.... https://www.tandyuk.net/mfi
Its a forum site run and posted by MFI staff, I ONLY posted what they are saying
YOU read what THEY are telling you.

I'd remembered seeing this and looking on with some mild amusement. But it is true that some jobs will go sadly.

Turns out that MFI are in trouble, big trouble it would seem despite the buy out but only time will tell.

I only revisited this thread as a lot of the repair companies do work for MFI and let's just say that they are jittery about being paid at present.

The latest news on it I just posted here this morning. On the credit rating thing, three sources have confirmed it so MFI will almost certainly have problems getting stock but none were prepared to go on record about it.

I ordered a kitchen from mfi last month and after a few days changed my mind which I was entitled to. I paid them a deposit of £1500 by a debit card. It took them 6 weeks to process the refund!! Thats after chasing them every other day and for some strange reason they sent me a cheque instead of refunding the card.

good luck guys hope you get your money back

I too have had enormous problems to cut long story short told if I purchase 3 items would get them put together for £40 by advisor only went in for a bed, after long process requested refund 20th Sept, I paid by cash, i wanted cash back no told head office cheque would be sent. I AM STILL WAITING FOR MY REFUND NOW - ive rang head office been passed from one to another cut off etc and now they will not take my calls. Spoke to a solicitor who advised they have had my money long enough and write giving them 5 days to return your money or you will issue court proceedings against them. I am just about to do this tommorow. I have spent so much in phone calls and petrol I have been to the store 4 times since.

They are a disgusting bunch of robbers
  • I work there, in one of the stores that are left, ALL customers orders will be satisfied, even if your local store is being run by administrators. Don't worry at all. In fact if you want to grab a bargain, get down there and ask the manager to beat any other quote, and he will, guarantee it. The bad press over the stores closing has lowered trade, so every sale is important and 99% of store satff will bend over backwards to give you the best service levels and prices.
Our new trade arm MFIPRO will offer the same T&C's as Howdens, Magnets etc and smash their prices.

Well I have only had appalling service from not only the store salespeople, store manager, customer relations at their head office and the cashiers department quoted they have been told not to pay money out until the auditors have been in, how dare they keep my refund cheque since 20th September, I have just now issued court papers to MFI
  • scare mongering.

    COUGH COUGH :P
  • so what happens to me in my situation. Just had our kitchen finally fitted nearly 10 weeks after we had it delivered. We took out the interest free credit deal when we bought it which is due end of jan next year. We have a couple of probs with the kitchen which have yet to be sorted. So will i still have to pay if these probs are not sorted? Also what happens to the warranty that we have? I'm only worried because it seems that mfi or there fitter want to sort out these probs and seem to be holding off.

    cheers

  • you'd be best speaking to them now before they make their staff redundant (usually happens within a few months of the companys announcement of going into liquidation but can be as soon as 2-3 days after)
  • i did ask em but the responce i got was of cause i have to pay. Mfi have already been paid as the interest free credit is with black horse. i'm just wondering if i still have to pay when the job still has problems with it.

    cheers

I have to say, I honestly had no idea that MFI sold flatpack furniture until today, when there was an article in the Guardian about it. I honestly thought that MFI only sold custom-built kitchens (which are obviously of no interest to people on short-term tenancies), and that the only places you could get flatpack furniture from were IKEA, Habitat and Homebase.

Is it true that you can get flatpack furniture from MFI? What's the quality like? What are the instructions like? And what are the prices like? Has anyone bought any? And if so, what do they think of it? Is it any better than what you can get from IKEA? Thanks. :)
    :p
