If you get pulled by two officers at the roadside, you're on to a loser. Mags would believe the officers over you every time.

If you have the option of a course, grab it!

What reg was written on the ticket given to you by the police at the time of the offence, If that has the incorrect reg on it, I would write back to the police (recorded delivery) saying that you do not owe a vehicle with that reg. I'll be suprised if you hear anything back.
ANURADHA KOIRALA ??? go on throw it in google.

It's irrelevant. The FPN does not form part of the evidence. Minor mistakes on it do not matter.

Yes you are right, but a FPN is a legal document, minor mistakes are allowed, but putting a incorrect reg on 1 is not a minor mistake, it would invalidate the FPN, thereby no case to answer

They obviously have your correct name and address, otherwise the papers wouldn't have reached you. The incorrectly written reg no would be corrected in Court, if it went that far, under the "slip" rule.

Are you sure that's the case?

I was reading online earlier (I think it was pepipoo, but I might be wrong) about the slip rule...they said it could be use for minor spelling mistakes in names, addresses etc - but then explicitly stated the reg plate as something that wouldn't be counted as a "slip"...

The slip rule is applicable to Court proceedings, which would only happen if the OP opted not to pay the fixed penalty, or attend the course.

In that event, the full details of the charge would be on a summons, and would be supported by the Section 9 statements of the officers concerned. I would expect that they would get the reg no correct on those documents, in which case mistakes on previous correspondence would have no bearing.

I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.

Surely you do the crime, you pay the fine?!

Does that mean that those of us who hit 80mph on the Motorway over the weekend should all be queueing up down at the Police Station to turn ourselves in?

The post was about the process following getting caught - not the original crime itself which was never in dispute.

For anyone out there about to give me a hard time, you don't know me or the circumstances or how I drive, so please don't , my life is hard enough. thanks

We know that you drive too fast, hence the speeding ticket, correct or not
It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical
