This is a nightmare, I just did not think that I would not be able to get advanced cheap tickets but it is so near to Christmas I should have known.0

Cannot get on the Megatrain site at the moment.
I did do a check on the Flight Checker and came up with £111.96 plus baggage with Flybe so that's quite a bit cheaper than the train.
 Still looking at National Express.

Just did more maths on the Flybe and it comes to £149.92 (for 2) - Flight, Baggage, Credit card charge, Shuttle from Edinburgh airport to city centre, it just doesn't add up to the cheap break I thought I was getting. We are gutted doubt we can go. 0 doubt we can go. 0

My hot tip to you is to check out the deals from Bolton, Preston and Wigan to Edinburgh.I know the time table for Virgin has only just been put online, does anyone know if advance deals will appear. Does it have something to do with it being December
 What a let down.
Last time I got the train to Edinburgh, it worked out £30 cheaper to get the outward train from Bolton rather than Manchester, but I got the return leg of the journey for £11 from Edinbugh to Wigan.
You know it's only a couple of £'s from both of those stations to Manchester with them being on the Northern Rail network.
If you could give me the dates you want to travel and rough times, I'd be happy to do the search for you.0

Hmmm... It does appear that they haven't released any discount tickets yet.
I'd try agin much closer to the time, say 29 days, 15days and 9 days prior, and don't be scared of buying a good priced single when you see it in the hope that you can match it up with another cheap ticket later.0

Flybe is a rip-off, but for a short break you can manage with hand luggage only. And I don't know what you mean by the "shuttle": there is an excellent bus service linking Edinburgh airport with the city centre, and a return ticket costs five pounds.0
